When you use a scanner to check for error codes will it actually give the date that the code first happened?

the date? i never you could set a date into cars....

when my VSS died one morning the engine light came on after 1-2km of driving.

Sorry I'm not sure you can. That's just what I'm trying to find out. I don't know how sophisticated the car's ECU is but was wandering does it log codes by parameters like date and time?
