View Full Version : Accord Carb Intake

Below is a pic of my airbox on my 1983 2nd Gen Accord, EL1600 Engine.

You can see that i have highlighted a 'plate' of metal. What happens if i remove that plate? I was thinking that it may reduce turbulance or something like that. Im not game enough to do it incase it f*cks itself.

I recon that plate is there to foce incoming air to flow around the filter not just into the section where it would 1st hit.

I dunno really, i was checking the air filter yesterday and it never really clicked that there was a plate their. Just wondering if it would let air flow more easily to the carb.

I removed it an ran the engine and gave it a few revs, but i couldnt really tell if there was any difference. I doubt if there was any increase/decrease, that it would be noticeable without some specific instruments or something.
