Anyone know if the left & right drive shafts are identical. Mid shaft not included. Shafts from a b16a.
If not, what is the differnece.?
If yes, is it possible to use the driver side shaft on the passenger side, and passenger side shaft on the drivers side.?
Cheers,
Gerald

They are different, one connecting to the gearbox.

left shaft is female onto mid shaft, right shaft is male into gearbox, but they are equal length.
u could swap the tripod joint housings, but not a good idea if shafts have been well used on a particular side for any length of time.

Think this is the answer i was looking for. Was wondering if they were the same length without the inner housing.
I changed my inner cv boots yesterday and didn't take notice of which was left and right, totally slipped my mind. When it came time to put on the inner housing, i felt so stupid. I'm pretty sure i put it back in the right place tho, just making sure just in case.
Thanx for that.

you cant **** it up, only 1 shaft will go into the intermediate, leaving you with other to go back in the box, always male / female shaft design on most cars

if the shafts make any unusual noises/vibrations that they didnt before,u prob have them mixed up,if so swap them over post haste.
to do the boots,i managed to swap them without removing shafts from the hub(thanx to advice from benjaminn:thumbsup:) on my crx, just a few strategically removed bolts. Try it next time could save some time & shaft mixup probs.

u can **** it up if u do them both at the same time,ie both tripod housings off at the same time.the rest of the shaft is identical otherwise.
