I got 15" Rota Slipstreams (lol) and I need new tyres.

90% I'm going Toyo T1R's so I think my 3 options are:

195/50/15
195/55/15
205/50/15

Will there realistically be any difference between the 3? I'm liking the 205/50, because my brain tells me it'll have a slightly smaller profile and wider width.

Will the 205/50 have the most probability of scraping on a lowered car?

Is it true 195/50 is the most standard, and should be the cheapest tyre?

Cheers

i think if you go with any of the 195's it will look stretched and weird unless you are running some serious camber to show them off

my eg used to scrape when i had the 205's on but i had 17x7 and pretty low. I've raised the car since and am running 15x6.5 with no problem, 195/50/r15 rubber

195/50/15 will give you the most accurate speedo readings. 195/55/50 is the most inacurate.
Obviously the 205 give's you extra 10mm tyre width, but its really up to you.
If you're not going to track the car on these tyres then the difference is probably negligable. Just compare the prices.

what about 215/45 in 15in? Will they affect the speedo?

nah 215/45 with 15" wheels are pretty much spot on mate. check this website out http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

None of these tyres should have trouble scraping... The 205/50 gives you the widest tyre. However the 195/50 offers the smallest profile out of the sizes you have written.

The 195 will not have the STRETCHED look as Boban said. It will look more flush then the 205.

i vote for the 205/50/15

What does running camber mean? Is it gonna stuff anything up?

So 215/45/15 would look good?

And isn't Rota slipstreams 15x6.5 not 15x7?

Hey lads couple more quick questions! :) I'm going to go with T1R's...

Is it illegal to run 215/45/15 on an EG?
On a lowered EG, is there a higher chance of scrubbing with 215/45/15 compared to 195/50/15?

And isn't Rota slipstreams 15x6.5 not 15x7?

Hey thanks I think your right, it is 15 x 6.5.

195/50/15 mate!

Well the only reason I was thinking 215/45/15 was because TALEB TYRES (ozhonda seller) has T1S's (same thing, old model) for $80 a corner shipped.

Which is cheap compared to 195/50/15 $170 a corner for T1R's.

hey mate, where did you purchase the Rota Slipstream from? I'm looking for some at the moment but can not find a distributor :(

Thanks.

Have to agree with Dreams. The tyre manufacturer makes their tyres to fit rims in a particular range, and if you go outside that you compromise the tyre performance. Which wastes the tyre, and possibly makes you more liable to get into trouble if your make a mistake somewhere.
Further, different tyres get more or less tread on the road depending on how they are made. So a 195 from one manufacturer could actually put more tread on the road than a 205 from another manufacturer.
And the local police and licensing have particular views on fitting wider tyres, so if you want to give them less excuse for a yellow sticker stay within their rules.

205 would be plenty; 195 is also good. The tyre softness is much more important for grip - my 195 toyo R881's eat my 205 khomo xs for grip, for example. So look at the combination of tyre softness, tread on the road and price, and make your call.

195/50/15 mate!

No. 215/45r15 is almost equivalent to 195/50.

I ve got 215/45 on my cpr on 6.5 wide and it only sticks out couple mm on front and back. My car is tucking the tyres 5mm and no rubbing issues.

It all comes down to your rim offset mate and how low u want to go with height.

can you post a picture of your tyre bulging from the wheel. cause i have seen 205/50 on a 7" wide wheel, and the tyre stick out quit abit ~2-4mm.

15x7 +40 205/50

scrubs inner guard liners at full lock. else sits fine.

Just run 195/50 perfect size.

I would recommend this.

I went 205 for the extra 'width' but 195 would be more suitable.
