Mate, you will need to give us more info about the noise because noise can be a million. Generally possibilities are:

1. Cold start - mild knocking sound is heard coz of the famous accord piston slap f22x engine.

2. Start up to normal running temp to running - medium to harsh ticking noise can be your valve clearance (tappets) that needs to be adjusted (high possibility)

3. Start up and running across the rev - audible knocking can be pinging, check or upgrade your petrol into higher octane. (This is very very very unlikely if you engine is stock)

Check you injector, air filter and spark plugs. Man it could be anything but we need more info. How many kms? what engine? and when was your last service?

120,000 km's when i bought it back in november 08' they said that they gave it a service, but i wouldnt have a clue if they actually did it.....f22b engine it sounds like those cars that have diesel, i think maybe coz its a small engine, its when i accelerate its working loudly....i think number 2 sounds more like it if it is that can that be fixed in a service, i might get it done soon and tell them bout it..i appreciate it could be anything, any advice is very much appreciated thanks kccord

First thing I would do is check the valve clearance. That doesn't involve replacing anything except for some liquid gasket sealant.

Liquid gasket is used between the valve cover and the head. To check, here is a DIY: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15443&highlight=valve+clearance

ahh hah! then it could be the valve clearance (the gap between your cam and the tappet) that needs adjusting. You can adjust it yourself, aaronng hit the target on the DIY link (thanks), but you need proper tools i.e.feeler gauge, the service manual and etc its a scale of 5/10 hard.

I'll preffer to bring it to honda specialist, they'll charge you about $60 for labour to adjust the clearance and save yourself the day :) :)

btw, if your engine is loosing power or jutters or having any unusual vibrations since the commencement of the noise, let us know (it is bad news lol!).

I instantly thought noisy tappets aswell.
Before adjusting them i would check you have enough oil in your car as this could be the problem.

I read somewhere that using castrol semi synth 15w-40 or 10w-60 quitens our babies down but I did that, in comparison to the last oil 5w-30 castrol edge, it sounds smooth but after 600kms it gets back to original noise lol! :) :)
