Anyone running a GT2876r on a b16a? I came across someone selling a second hand one in good condition for $900 and im thinking about buying it. Rather a Gt2871r but for $900 its a decent deal on the 76r.

i believe i have a 76r be but my setup is not finalised.
Luke has the 71r so we can have some sort of comparison in the end.
Wat happened to the RS?

selling it. the turbo is half through its life so i thought might as well sell it now whilst im doing my rebuild plus i do need something a little bigger to get 300hp atw's

give it a go. If worse comes to worse you can always swap the turbo if you don't like it.
It will give u the power you want.
From all i've read its just the lag that's the biggest factor.
But you have to rem, from a hi-comp motor the lag is not that bad apparently.
I'm still getting mine together, and main i got it is also cos i got the turbo cheap.
I've been reading around and alot of the lag problems are people with s15s complaining.
For them the lag is abit more.
Here's a comparison, the guy i brought my turbo off told me on a stock ca18 boost kicked in at 4krpm.
Judging by our car is should come on about the same mark if not slightly earlier.
I can live with 4k boost. :)

full boost at 4k? or starts spooling at 4k?

full boost at 4k, but i think his issue is that his motor is not as high revving, i beleive it redlines at 6.5k

full at 4k...ohh thats pretty good. I used to run a t04e and this sh1t box started spooling at 3500rpm. But when it came on it was solid.

yeah that's how this one is also. When its On its ON!
I got an LSD and longer ratios which will hopefully let the baby spool out

Yeh i know i want to...if my gt28r sells then i will deffinatly buy a new one but i spent 1g 3 weeks ago on the car then realised rings need replacing and then i bought new lsd, new clutch new pressure reg etc etc now and then turbo will put me over 3g just for random rebuild.
I can get the gt2871r with 52 trim and all bolt on with my setup for around $1300 brand new. So if my gt28r sells then i will do that straight up.

I find the Gt2876R a decent size, depends which rear housing you got.
Mines got .86 housing and everyone says its got massive lag lol.

Mate go get a GT30 you'll love it. My mate runs a GT35 on a stock b16a and its fine, fullboost about 5000rpm. With just AFR adjustments its making 186kw i think, still has timing to be done etc.
FastFwd
22-04-2009, 11:15 PM
yeh gt30 probably a better way to go but for street 2871r is more ideal for nice power and quick spool.

i was gettin 240hp - 180kw at the wheels with my gt28r on 7psi. running it upto 20psi ill no doubt get the 300hp atw's and over marks.
Hopefully :), we'll see after the fresh rebuild.
