hey guys i got a series 2 b16a and i think the ecu may have just died... car was at the lights and it just died... now it wont start,

the fuel pump doesnt prime and i tested the circut and its because its not getting power from the relay. is that the main relay?

could it just be that the relay is dead? would the ecu not get power if that relay was dead coz i jumped the fuel pump and it still wouldnt start.
Thanks

you'll have to take it apart
and the solders on the connections will be rusted and cracked..
ill dig up that DIY thread

tried it. doesnt work still... im gonna get a new one and see how i go... im pretty sure its the relay. symptoms sound correct from that other thread. and i jumped the relay and the pump turned on so i know its not the pump. i just hope its not the computer

smell the computer near the middle ECU connector for a crisp toasted smell. if you smell it then your ECU has fried

Damn relay didnt work!!! and opened the computer and it looks fine inside... doesnt smell at all. could it be anything else??
i have no idea what it is! im getting pretty frustrated! maybe i could tow to an auto elec... would they be able to tell me?

I really dont wanna buy a new computer if mine is fine lol.

when your turn the ignition on to reds
- does the engine light come on for 5 seconds and go out
- can you hear the main relay click on then click off
- have you checked the ECU for fault codes

hey thanks for the reply...
umm im not sure what ur asking but if i turn the key to the second click then the engine light comes on but does not go away... but so does the oil light. the battery light does not.
if i turn the ignition off i can hear a relay click and if i turn it one further as if to crank the car i can hear it click.
i cannot check codes as whoever did the swap (i bought the car with the engine swapped) for some reason cut off the jumper plug wires at the computer harness plug.

Please if you can think of anything let me know im tearing my hair out! i dont understand why it would just die like it did!?!

if you post me your ECU im happy to test it for you free of charge.

are you able to rewire the SCS connector if I tell you how to do it ?

what computer do you have and what OBD is it

eg P28 or P30 OBDI

that would help me give you the correct info

all this is based on OBDI Wiring

find the ECU connectors, left most connector is A then the middle is B and the right connector is D

find the wire D4. ( the 2nd bottom wire from the bottom left ) and connect it to ground.

when its connected to gound its as if you have bridged the SCS connector. if you have no ecu fault codes the engine light should come on and stay on.

hey ecu-man sorry for taking so long but i did it and the engine light just stayed on... what does that mean? that there is nothing wrong with my ecu?

the wiring job for the ecu harness is a damn a mess so im thinking maybe its that but i would have no idea where to start to test/fixup the wiring. is there anywhere i can take it that would actually know what they are doing? eg. experience with engine swapped hondas?

is it possible to take you up on that offer to test my ecu just so i can rule it out? thanks
