I'm looking for an amp to upgrade my existing MTX RoadThunder RT404. The RT404 is a gutless 4x 35 wrms amp.

To power:

Apline 9831
DA m6's up front (awesome splits, 100 wrms)
250wrms MTX Sub that's in a sealed box thats too small (next upgrade) (bridged)

The plan for this upgradeis to sound deaden the EG doors and install this new Amp.

Can I get anything that will be worthwhile for $300? If not, how much should I spend?

RT404 makes more power then 35w x4. Thats is old american ratings. WAY UNDER RATED. RT404 retails around 4-500 bucks!

To get a better amp, you'll need to spend $400+

They had a price drop last month which made the prices more competitive, worth a look IMO.

Probably fits into your price range.

4x100RMS = 400RMS

If you are paying $400 or less for an amplifier of that power then your looking at decent value. $1 per watt would be reasonable. If you pay less, as long as it has a decent level of quality, you are sitting pretty.

Thanks, I think I'll go Jaycar too. Considering my current POS Amp has lasted so long, a bigger box for my Sub, sound deadening the doors/boot and the Jaycar Amp should be a solid upgrade.

Any SD's a EG? I just wanna know if doing the doors and boot make a massive difference? At the moment mine is like a rattle box. But, with the boot being a hatch, I don't know if SD will stop the rattling.
