I know some of you may have heard of the program Crome. its widely used over in the states, whereas over here not so much. Well i plan to buy a chipped ecu, & i have the option of it being programmable with crome or hondata. i know there's a few hondata tuners around the brisbane area, but does anybody know anywhere that can tune crome? It has crossed my mind to diy tune, but the items needed are way outta my budget, plus id rather someone with much more experience work on it. thanks in advance...
> Well i plan to buy a chipped ecu
I think development/support has been dropped in favour of Neptune.
> but does anybody know anywhere that can tune crome
Go about it the other way. Choose your tuner then install whatever he works with.
> It has crossed my mind to diy tune, but the items needed are way outta my budget
If a wideband O2 sensor and an eprom programmer are out of your budget you really need to refine your goals.
The benefit of using a professional tuner is that they use a dyno. The disadvantage is that dyno's aren't cheap.
The last thing you need to know is the EK1 uses an australian only ECU.
AFAIK the main differences being:
1) the ecu uses two wires to fire four fuel injectors.
ie two injectors fire at the same time.
2) the distributor/timing sensors are different
3) the connector is physically different from either ODB1/2.
You'll either need to change the ecu and dizzy and wiring loom or get one of the guys here to make some changes with your existing parts.

i know all the ins & outs of working with the EK1 engine & wiring harness. No one near where i live supports honda engines. so its a trip down to brisbane, id much rather take the car to get tuned by someone that works alot with hondas. i know there's a few places down there that tune with hondata, so ill just go with that.
No, chipped ecu's havent been dropped, plenty of support for them & plenty of them for sale from online stores. if i did want to tune myself, there's a new product from Moates called the Demon (http://www.xenocron.com/demon-eprom-emulator-and-datalogging-hardware-p-461.html?osCsid=0d07912985ae3d38695a75039e8c5911).
When ordering the ecu, i can get it loaded with a basemap for my setup. so i can drive it to get it properly tuned.

Unless you get the hondata s300 no one in brisbane will be able to tune it.;)

You just need the right hardware. So chip burner, emulator, datalogger.

If the chipped ecu is compatible with hondata tuning program, why do you say no one in brisbane will be able to tune it? If the tuner has capability of tuning with hondata, all that would be needed is a datalogging cable & an emulator, which a reputable tuner should already have...
I think i know what you mean though, because S300 can be tuned via usb cable, whereas chipped ecu needs a few more components.

I would go for Neptune,it's new and it's growing and you can get tuner's to tune with it in Brisbane.Plus it's a bloody Awesome! (http://www.hrtuning.com/pages/category/neptune)
I haven't heard chrome mentioned once here, where as,like U said it's everywhere in the states.

for just about half the price of the NepTune RTP, i could purchase the Moates Demon, $249usd, use crome free with that. if i go with this, i wont need the datalogging cable or eprom emulator, the demon has usb input...

Yeah, thats what i meant!
Can you name a tuner in brisbane that is a reputable honda tuner with a datalogging cable and emulater to tune Crome or hondata s100/s200 chips. Very interested to know because i wouldnt mind getting a retune.
Because last time my cousin (egjoe) needed a tune for his s200 we had to drive down to sydney and get adrian to tune it. ;)

Sorry, I meant the ROM editior software.
AFAIK, John Cui has moved on from developing Chrome to Ecutune.

Ectune, i havent heard of crome being dropped though, i still believe there's always updated revisions coming out...
a reputable tuner should have datalogging cable, & eprom emulator (ostrich, etc.). i know there's hondata tuners near brisbane, apc i believe. do you need emulator to update a hondata s100/s200 or do they have usb input?

prob just not as much of a market for making money since the software is free.
Its hard to make money on something that people can get free and try to tune themselves.

Crome and Uberdata are a waste of time dude. I had it for a year or two and had a registration key for complete tuneability. I found it only useful for basic base maps and switched to neptune. Neptune is byfar my prefered ecu rom.
I know AKmotorworks in melbourne can supply Neptune and also has an ostrich to create roms for other suppored systems.

Crome & Neptune program would have almost similar features. i know of plenty of people safely tuning with crome, but they're overseas.
Why do you think crome was only useful for basic basemaps? Crome Pro should be just as good as NepTune. if im not happy with crome, i can always go to neptune though...
