View Full Version : rusted cam gears
hey guyz
i'm planning on building a b20 vtec and i'v had my ITR head for some time now, i just had a look at it and the cam gearz look like theyr starting to rust up, keep in mind i didnt have the rocket cover on it and it was left open . .
would this cause any problems or can they just be wiped off or something?

i think it would, your timing belt is supose to not touch any substances and be super clean. If the rust gets on the timing belt it could cause premature wear on the belt, not something that i would recommend.
I have a set of ITR cam gears if your interested PM me
ahhk and is there a way i could clean the insides of the head?

you don't take the head off unless your doing a rebuild or soemthing.
are u sure you mean the engine head?

Like limbo said...a low flammable solvent. Terps, kero, or even diesel. I use diesel in my Parts washer and it works as good if not better than kero
