using something like 600grit - 800grit, or just use paint stripper
i think a wing is similar to a bumper, i used 800-1000 to get off the paint, and 350 to smooth it surface

I tend to use 400, 600, 800 wet and dry for painted areas, no dust flying around in the air and I believe it makes for a clearner work space. Also for the final final rub down i have used 1200.

The higher the number the finer the grit. You can also use a fine grit (1000+) with water to help smooth out the surface.

yah... 1200-1500grit wet sanding can be used to pre-polish paint/clearcoat before a buff....
