View Full Version : Looking at buying Accord Euro. need advice for pinging issue

Hey guys new to the forums, as the title says I'am looking at buying an accord euro but I have heard about the pinging issue that these cars have been suffering from so I just wanted to ask a question about this.

Firstly the model I'am looking at is the 2005-2006 Accord Euro Luxury.
I'am definitely after a MANUAL version. I tried to read up as much as I can on the pinging issue and I believe they occur mostly on the new version and most the people that bring up this issue have the AUTO.

My question is does pinging occur on the 2005-2006 Accord Euro and does it also occur on the manual transmission ?

pinging issues only occur on the CU2 which are the 2008+ ones, the 2005-2006 are CL9s which don't have pinging issues =P

I haven't read up on the pinging yet, but does it have anything to do with the wrong octane level fuel being used?

Nope, it seems to happen with some 2009 CU2 Euros running 98 octane as well.

From what I know, basically none. drive does a review of it

apparently only a few issues with the early models but from what i know there werent any recalls on the 2005-2006

When I try to get a online quote from AAMI for Accord Euro luxury 2005 model there are two choices:
2005 HONDA ACCORD EURO LUXURY F/INJ 4D SEDAN
2005 HONDA ACCORD EURO LUXURY MY05 UPGRADE F/INJ 4D SEDAN

how can you tell the difference

hrmm i think whichever one you choice, the quote will work out to be the same. I THINK the MY05 are the ones that are the 2005 edition which are slightly different, 17" sport rims instead of 16", and a few changes here and there.

The other one i THINK is the old edition but built in 2005?
