hi,
was wondering if anyone would know a price estimate for a 97 civic coupe vti?
dont say redbook cos i dont believe in it.
the car is stock, no mods at all and expect the k's to be high like all hondas

thanks

6-10k depending on cond

i have an ej8 and if i were to put it back to stock i'd want 10g from it. relatively low kms only sitting on 108 atm also cause its in tip top condition.

basically 10 mark is the highest i'd pay for one if it was in very good condition.

its manual, engine seems fine, just needs attention to body work such as respray...

oh, and how much fuel do you usually get out of full tank or how many litres per 100kms?
the engines done almost 200 000, but still seems strong.

well go get a quote for fixing of paint and take off price owner wants
or just go find a better car

I sold my ej8 with high ks - 291,000 (country driving), no issues mechanically, no burn oil, etc etc. for $5K flat. paint in great condition. no RWC included.

ej8s are an awesome cheap car.

oh wow, were you happy to sell it for 5K?
like were you desperate for the money?

I get around 450ish on bp ultimate. on a full tank

and for a car with 290000kms on it, most people wouldnt risk buying unless it was at a fairly low price. or have other plans for it.

try look for a car with the work already done. engine swap respray etc etc whatever your plans for your car will be

nah no plans, just a daily.
its got around close to 200 000kms
and just needs a respray.

what price would you pay for that?

isnt that a bit low for a honda or am i expecting too much from them?

you would pay as little as possible for what can get it for

I wasn't desperate for money, but the market wasn't responding to what I wanted, same with ozhonda. so I just sold it. This was the most realistic representation of market price. I was just sick of having 4 cars at home haha.

Exactly Lan, thats why i bought it in the first place, and the engine was immaculate. 4 months down the track, i ended up scoring a type r for next to nothing, which saved me the hassles of conversion/extra cost, hence the ej8 was out the door!

lol got it down to 4.3k for it.... just not sure if it'll be worth it...

4.3k is nothing for a car like that. u'll find if maintained with servicing, these d-engines will last forever.

and especially sinces it a coupe, not a boring sedan or hatch. dont forget these cars were quite expensive in comparison to the rest of the 'ek' range during that era.

so you reckon its worth it, the car looks fine from far but when you come close you see cars been keyed like everywhere except roof, bonnet and front guards lol

cool thanks for the help, cos rwc is provided too :) and only 3 months reg left

u musnt forget the ks and age of the car. its not a brand new car, so dont expect anything near it :)

lol, i expected a bit more power but maybe just coming from a turbo to a n/a is the big factor of it.

ive was looking for one for a while, i wouldnt pay more than 7. ive seen some stock as rock nice ones around jimboomba of all places, for around 5~7 all clean as. i saw 3 there. never ended up buying just got a ek hatch

youd be hard pressed finding any ek series civic in good nick for 5k lol

Id pay up to 8k for a nice one with low ks 160-240 is normal for a car of that age

and theyll damn well do 300,ooo on the same engine and cost bugger all to maintain

if I sold mine stock Id want 9k at the very least as it only gets oem bits on it and I have enough dockets to impress the fusiest of buyers lol

just do a good overall check on the car using the monthly checklist and a hanyes manual

lol ryan ryan, ive bought a ek for 5 grand before mint condition lol. and so have some of my mates. good condition, just gotta find out who doesnt want a ek anymore. someone who is sick of it or already bought another car.

in saying that but, most people are after engine swaps anyway, i would just buy from auction and do engine swap on it

edit, jimboomba, the sticks lol. near brisbane

respray could cost between 1k and up

EK1.6LCIV
01-05-2009, 07:02 PM
an ek hatch for 5k is good, most are around 6k for a decent one with clean interior

auction is a risk, usually a car that no one wants anywhere lol

hence it ends up there

would go west for one where someone has looked after it and not much traffic driving on the engine :D

yep yep well said. just a closed door respray is enough to make car look real neat again. and just give interior a good clean and replace any shit broken and you got brand new feeling car lol.

one thing about EK over EG, is it still looks quite newish shape, like still can drive it around and people wont say you got old car lol.

thats what i noticed anyway. paint does help alot though

we bought an eg for 500 just this week, not bad for an old one with 300000 on it

so far the window reg is busted, and it needs new door strips and thats it, good run around

will get it running eventually, its an auto vti tho, all the options :D

hisoka
01-05-2009, 07:08 PM
nicee. if you part out you can make your money back just from the windows alone maybe

EK1.6LCIV
01-05-2009, 07:09 PM
yea it wont be parted, just will get up to par and in decent condition oem style and moved on to someone who needs it :D

very tidy car tho, basic tlc
