I recently installed a voltmeter gauge in my car.

Currently it reads:

On Accessory (ACC) = 12v

Car started = 14-15v

is this the normal operating voltages?

somewhat
15v is a bit higher while running, should see around 14.3v while turned on and idling
12-12.4v whle off is pretty much spot on

^ thanks for the confirmation.

It seems also that every time I use an electronic device i.e. HID/turn up sound system, it will jump down from 14-15v to 13v

Everything seems to working well, cheers!

Yup, on my RSM it shows around 12 when only running and 14 when I've got lights etc. If it drops to around 12 and everything is running that's when I'll go out to get myself a new battery. (But my sound system seems to be alright on the stock battery for now)

15v is getting a lil high... if it exceeds it get your alternator fixed ASAP or your battery will be dead soon

i thought when you running the car is around 14v, somehow cause they're recharging it, and when the engine switched off, it should be around 12v. - told by my mechanic,

yeah 14.4v when running but depends what accessories you have turned on...

generally should never exceed 15v

yep exceeding 14.8 is when you're over charging the battery. if its above 15 i'd definitely look at getting that alternator checked out.

If your alternator is needing a refurb, new bushes and a regulator are relatively cheap. There's a DIY in the DIY section on how to replace them.
