Hey guys hows going. Have been searching for the EK recaro rail for ages but couldn't found any. If there is any, the price is go up to hill. Eryone is just making too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on it. So i come out with the idea of 'modify' the DC5R seat rail that i had on SR4, to fit the EK. Damn, is too easy. totally piece of cake. Besides, the price of DC5R rail is half of the EK rail
Sorry for bluffing. I should just shut my mouth and show u wat i did.
here you go.
L = left
T = top
R = Right
B = Bottom
DC5R rail setting
l------l l------l l------l l------l
l L-T1 l l L-T2 l l R-T1 l l R-T2 l
l_____l l_____l l_____l l_____l
l------l l------l l------l l------l
l L-B1 l l L-B2 l l R-B1 l l R-B2 l
l_____l l_____l l_____l l_____l
So what you had to do is remain the top mount, swap the bottom mount.
Modified Rail
l------l l------l l------l l------l
l L-T1 l l L-T2 l l R-T1 l l R-T2 l
l_____l l_____l l_____l l_____l
l------l l------l l------l l------l
l R-B2 l l L-B2 l l R-B1 l l L-B1 l
l_____l l_____l l_____l l_____l
The reason of swapping these two sections is because the distance between L-B1 and L-B2 is 14.25" for dc5r while L-B2 and R-B1 is 17"
By swapping the L-B1 and R-B2, this increase the distance of dc5R rail to 17" and allow to bolt onto the Ek.
Also, you need to bend these two sections L-B1 and R-B2 to increase the mounting position like 2mm or something. so just get a rubber hammer and knock few time and all done.
However, this setting only allow 3 bolt to be locked to the chassis. so you need to get a metal plate from bunning, drill two holes through it, and lock it to 4th point and chassis. i think is 5mm thick and 40mm wide
The whole process takes like 1 hr for me. I know is illegal but still, better than nothing.
Alright guys, for more photo, pls refer to the thread below:
