Hiya...

I've delayed this long enough, so it's time for me to order an exhaust for my car (ek4).

Has anyone had experiences with any of the following cat back systems?
- Spoon N1
- 5zigen fireball
- Buddyclub Spec III (although i've heard that the spec II produces more power)

Loudness isn't an issue for me, however.. having the option to use a silencer is good ;) Basically i'm after power

spec 2 or 3 then
2 gives more power
2/3 both are light, loud and cheaper than the other 2 alternatives litesds

Why go with all these jap brands ffs!
Just get something done locally, cost you half as much!! Get mild steel, mandrel bent. It will last longer then your car and u pay half the price.

Cat back will make f-all difference, the only thing id go expensive with is a set of extractors.

But I see where Weq is comming from.

For anything cat back its just piping, and as long as its mandrel bent there is nothing to worry about. As long as the muffler is straight through that's fine also. The only issue is the sound / quality of the muffler, but you pay for name brands :)

The only thing Japanese I'd get for my exhaust are a good set of headers :)

because u want the weight savings advantage
local products cannot match spec2/3 weight

So u will gain 0.005hp/$1 instead od 0.004hp/$1? Unless you are prepared to go 'full race trim' and gut he interior your money is simply wasted. You will gain much more power by using the $500+ u save an EMS or something.

ps. If u wanna save weight, get rid of those 17"s and shield ur pod, u'll notice the different immediatly.

what sort of exhaust system are you chasing? From your description sounds like u only want a cat-back system? All the brands you mentioned are fine, but i would presonally go for the spoon, the quality seems to be just alittle bit better!

I have got the spoon n1, sounds bloody good, fits perfect, and performance is very good. Plus u can switch back to oem muffler any time.

tanghy

spoon n1 is axle back only
the other 2 are catbacks
jenova u can getr more gains if u change yr bpipe to some larger as well

I *had* a 2.25 hi flow cat back under axle setup with a APEXi n1 NA cannon on the end...very good setup wit sum scope for future mods...local made piping wit a JDM muffler ! The best u can get :P

actually made wuite a difference- HAD my car not got run up the bum i wus in for 4-1 ceramic coated 2nd hand headers , other mods etc - would of been quite good.

Oh well !

Actually, I'm not really bothered by it. I'm just gonna keep my car looking stock as much as possible

I've decided to go for a 2.25" custom exhaust with N1 type muffler and a magnaflow cat. However, I won't be getting this installed until I have some headers.

Are the EK9 headers 4-1?

eknine

of the three you mentioned, i say spoon...otherwise apexi...and if money is not an object try type one(comes with the cat back and only the axle back is titanium) or maybe even amuse:)

ive got my replica spoon header which is a 4-1 design. I am also buying a replica mugen twin loop exhaust too.
I intend to get it all hooked up before xmas and rip some boxes off on the strip :P
I will also have it all dynoed too so im very curious to see what gains i get with 2.1/4 mandrel bent mild steel piping and possibly a high flow cat.

man, i want a buddy club spec 3 :(...

but like everyone else, i'm wondering whether the extra money is worth it just for the name.

i'm not sure what the sound difference is going to be between a genuine buddy club muffler, or a 'nicely' made N1 replica.

Has anyone see or had Toda headers on a b16a?

I've gotta decide between spoon or toda headers.

go for toda, spoon has got the ground clearance problem and make less power than toda.

im going to an exhaust shop over here in Perth for my exhaust.
They are doing everything. I went there yesterday to get him to check everything out.
All piping and attachment of braces to muffler (supplied) 2 1/4 mild steel $230
Fitment - including possible attachment work to ball flange of 4-1 header $130

so its all costing me $360 to fit.

Checkout
Spoon replica 4-1 Extractor with heat wrap $400
replica mugen Twin Loop Muffler $200
Fitting $360

Total $960

loud hondas are annoying...BC spec II is wayyyy tooooo loud for the street and even the spec III...the spoon is quieter and it has more of a low rumble rather than a high pitch...the CTR headers are 4-2-1 with a 2.25" collector...if you're gona be running these exhausts on the street and not on the track stay away from cops period.
