Hey guys this is the situation
i own a turbocharged D15b7 Motor and next year im going to be doing some more modding for some more power. As for the moment im doing research as to what im am going to do.

As the D15b7 motor is pretty gutless and has not much potential at all i have been thinking of selling the motor with the turbo setup but keeping all my engine management. Dropping the the B16a building another turbo kit and running boost through that.

However this would involved spending big money and changeing many things.

I was wondering is it possible to change the head of my motor? would this bring up the capacity and Hp of the engine? preferably to a D16Zc head or a SOHC D series Vtec Head with an extra cam? Also if i added a Vtec head.. would that mean my car would have vtec or would i have to get the vtec Ecu and other assorted bits and pieces?

Because from what i have herd from the states they have been getting their D's going alot faster then their B's with less money and more Boost.

Give us some suggestions and what is the best course of action. And if any of your could answer those questions that would be great.
Cheers.

Upgrading to be B16A would be great, if you got the cash. It's like starting all over again :(

If you just want some more power, get stronger internals and up the boost ;)

Don't know much about your engine specifically, but all heads for D-series engines should be interchangable. Also if you get a vtech head, you will need a vtec controller.

will putting a d16 head on up the capacity of the motor? also would it up the compression, it the standard motor the head came off was a higher compression?

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm for compression/capcity details.

thats a compression calculator. in stock form, the d16y1 head is the best flowing, and the y8 intake manifold is best. a hyrbid d is strong but ur bottom end of the d15b has proven to be the weekest as far as rod stength goes. u can build up the d to get it to hold more power, but it depend son ur turbo setup weather it can support it or not. we need some more details.

lyle style- the way to understand capacity is easy. when the piston is at the bottom of it stroke, then fill up the cylinder with water all the way to the top. in a 1.6l each cylinder should hold 400ml. 4 cylinders x 400ml = 1.6L i hope that make it easier to understand a cars capacity.

1.6L engine will hold 400ml + the combustion chamber volume... The engine capicity = bore x stroke. The head can chage the combustion chamber volume, but it dosen't effect the bore or the stroke.

dude that was just a rough explanation i just did it so he could get a basic understanding.
