hey guys,

had a squiz under my bonnet today after smelling coolant while driving along. the top radiator hose looked like it was ready to burst and coolant was seeping out from either end. i've never had any over-heating issues ever. is this kind of pressure normal? is it the hose that needs replacing? any ideas?

cheers

Has your temperature been 'normal' recently? How many kms on the car?

yeah, needle always stays at operating temp - never fluctuates. car has 125,000km

Can't see how it can increase in pressure unless it gets 'extreemly' hot, which you say it never has. If theres a blockage you'll see it with increased temps, which you haven't.

Really..... The radiator cap should remove any pressure to the overflow before a hose would give way, yes? So thats telling me that the pressure is acually fine and its the hose is the one that has perished and lost its strength. Replace it and I'll bet you'll be fine.
