Hi guys

I own a 1995 Honda Legend which is giving me some grief at the moment..

I've taken it to a mechanic who has had it for nearly 4 days & can't figure out what the problem is...

Basically the whole car sways quite violently from side to side when I'm accelerating..doesn't matter what speed it is..the car feels like its going to fall off the road!

This problem started about 4-5 months ago & has got progressively worse..now its really un-drivable..

I'm really hoping someone can come up with some suggestions because my mechanic & I are stumped!!

Thanks in advance

I had this when i first got my eg back in 02...the front shocks were screwed car was hopping, steering all over the place and massive torque steer even when my car had a crappy d15b4 in it. I replaced them with some coilovers and problem went away.

Also it could be your front lower control mounts, or steering rack joints. Any small issue with these things can cause stuff like this to happen also.

Thanks for the reply, just forgot to mention something. It is only happening when i accelerate, when it is swaying side to side if i take my foot off the accelerator it stops doing it straight away. Once i get over about 60 k's the swaying stops and it just makes a noise. With that info would you still think its the same thing??? Thanks again.

you said that in your original post and yes my answer will still be the same, It has to be your shocks, one of your suspension bushings, mainly the control arm and/or steering rack issue.

Ok thanks for that, i'll have a chat to the mechanic lookin at it and get him to check them out.

Get him to check all the Rubber suspension bushings, Check if theres oil leaking from the shocks. check the steering rack if theres greese leaking and the rack boot has cracked. If your mechanic cant fix it take it to a CV join specialist they work wonders and they are much cheaper than a suspension place or a mechanic.

Your Mechanic can't work it out? Time for a new mechanic!

Well yeah that would be my next thought, anyone know a decent mechanic around the northern suburbs of Melbourne that doesnt charge through the teeth??
