View Full Version : Intake Resonator -> High idle?

Hi all.

I recently removed the intake resonator on my 00' EK . This is the one that guides unfiltered air to the filter.

After which, my car now idles 200 revs higher.

It has gone from 550 ± 50 when warm to 750 ± 50

Is there any need for concern? Might it be running lean?

Thanks in advance.

try resetting the ecu? disconnect and reconnect the battery

ah, sorry. Forgot to mention

I tried resetting the ecu. I pulled two fuses out. The top 2 left hand corner ones 15 and 7.5. Left out for 5 mins. Then popped back in and let it idle for 10.

Ecu should be reset? I know I now need the code for my stock radio.

it should idle at around 750 rpm when warm...i think 550 is a bit low to be idling.....the fuses you pull i think is called like radio backup or somethign....

if you pop ur bonnet on the sticker it should tell you the ideal idle speed

meh, mine idles around 750 aswell, when cold, it idles at like 1250 (so it warms up faster)...i don't think you should fear tho...

Get a friend or someone else that has a scan program and they can get an accurate idle for you. You will also be able to measure your air to fuel ratio.

Here are 2 screen shots I have taken with a new program I got last week. There are a numerous variables that you can test for.
