View Full Version : another dc2r as daily question...

i've already searched and gone through all the threads regarding dc2r's comfort and its viability as a daily car.

I have my eyes on a dc2r but i'm not sure if its the right car for me. after reading through a couple of threads i reckon i can live with a none-luxury and raw car in exchange for a really fun ride. however, i will often have to drive my parents and siblings around so i was just wondering how they would feel in the car? like if i dont rev the engine high and drive normally, will they be comfortable at all? or is it uncomfortable regardless because of the stiff suspension?

another question on the sound isolation, apparently you can hear your engine roar. but my parents are old and dont want me to drive a loud car. so i was wondering how loud the engine will be when i drive normally - shift at 4k or maybe even 3k rpm?

thanks in advance

A stock DC2R isn't that rough. Don't believe the hype.

I test drove a stock DC2R a couple of years ago and after getting out of my lightly modified DC5R it felt like driving a lexus.

Stock is soft, they'll think its a Corolla if you drive it sensibly.

yep, they wont notice at all pretty soft, and there mind wont be on that lol.

only people like us jump into a car and sus out what coilovers the car has how many clicks the owners turned the dampening system. lol

my dc2r is my daily, and i love it.
unless your changing at like 7000rpm, no one will hear you
like qball and hisoka said, you wont hear it. although the suspension is a bit stiffer than a corolla lol.

as these guys said...only problem i reckon is the terrible head room in the back seats!

Stock DC2R's are soft. More noisey than a Accord or Camry, but it's not bad. I would rather say the suspension is more "Firm", not "Stiff". Stiff makes it sound hardcore, which it isn't.
Best way is to test drive one for yourself, and see if it's hardcore.

To be honest, the DC2R is a pretty rough car for daily commuting especially on the hopeless Sydney roads. I use it as a daily, and i don't taxi around my family, but I will say this, I'm sure your parents would prefer to be sitting in a say a camry rather then a DC2R. I don't see many old people in DC2R's, or the equivalant type of cars.
Also remember that a two door cars are not really designed to cart many people around.
Then again, it will be your car, so its all up to you.

Theyre not as rough as everyone says... like it was said before dont believe the hype... youll have a ball of a time driving it and your parents will love it... only problem is that the headroom in the back is pathetic lol

when driving around the oldies the biggest problem for the car was them getting in and out.. it isnt the easiest of things.. plus with the recaros .. yeah cant exactly slide in..

so i wouldnt recommend it if they will be in your car alot..
as others have mentioned rear head room is awful..
ive owned a dc2r for 4 years and i still dont know how to get outta the back properly let alone somone who is twice my age

suspension is fine.. not as soft as others but definately capable as a daily driver..

Head room in the back seats is shocking.
unless you really give it to the car the car as a daily is fine. Mine's a daily.
getting out would be hard for your folks. heck is hard for me to get out of. let alone older people.
if you drive it soft its not too noisy. u can feel the bumps a lot more due to the stiffer suspension as opossed to a camry or corolla or other non sporty car.

I drive my DC2R as a daily, and have been for the past 8-9 months of ownership. Stock suspension is quite forgiving and its ride height is great. It handles well and isnt too stiff. the only thing is getting in and out of the car cos the seats are so low.

I then put coils in, its stiff as well but being damper adjstable, its tuned to close to factory damper feel. Just lower now.

As a daily its damn fun. i would recommend it. it u want a sports car, buy a sports car, not a half hybrid tourer type thing.

p.s. head room is back, ive only had passengers in the rear a few times but being asian, they're short and it isnt a problem.

my father finds it too low , recaros are hard to get in and out of , back seat only has 2 seat belts also , im 6 ft so no one can sit behind me its pretty tight. keep it out of vtec and the car isnt loud first time i had my mother in the car and hit vtec she almost had a heart attack didnt know what was happening. overall the suspension is firm and recaros are pretty solid so youll feel every bump buts its always great to drive

ive never been in a stock dc2r so i cant say about how it goes.

The one i had was pretty modified...coilovers, headers, power fc, cams, air intake, exhaust. It was pretty awesome to drive but yet very tiring on the highway.

i miss it but i dont miss the lack of torque.
