Hi everyone

I'm keen to get a set of Comptech headers for a good bang-for-buck mod which won't make too much noise.

Any suggestions as to the cheapest place to source these?

I'm still keen to get a mild Hondata reflash too but haven't heard from James for an eon. Might be time to get in touch with him to follow up...

never heard of it, but going by the pics and price, looks like another dc sports knock off.
similar if not exactly the same as topspeed

oh ok...dc headers are low to mid range headers right?

they are a decent "street" header from what I hear, although imo comptech>dcsports

That's the TopSpeed header. They are DC Sports copies. Problems you will have is a cracked flex pipe. Problems you might get is a flange that is not flat, causing the gasket to be burnt through by the exhaust gas.

The dyno charts in there are bullshit in my opinion. The stock one is a manual, while the dohcgarage one looks like an auto because it has the lockup torque convertor bump at 7000rpm.

DC build quality > Topspeed
But can't complain about it being stainless. :p

For the money, it is reasonable. Just make sure that you check that the flanges are flat, and be prepared to replace the flex pipe.

What kind of sound difference might I notice with Comptech headers on my 6MT with Iceobox intake, ie. louder, different tone, vibration, etc.?

Another question, how much should I expect an exhaust shop to charge for installation and will any other modifications be necessary?

I also have a Hondata heatshield manifold gasket. Would this be the opportune time to install this with the headers and will this make any noticeable performance difference living in a hot climate?

I'd say around $150-200 for a decent shop to do it.

Heatshield manifold gasket is for your intake manifold, if you're confident taking off the IM and swapping the gasket you might as well try and do it in the exhaust shop with their tools :D

I have both of these on my car(06 model lux 6MT) and only when you WOT do you notice maybe 10% more induction noise. With Comptech headers there's next to no difference in noise over stock but noticeable improvement in low-midrange torque.Get them, you'll be happy with the result.:thumbsup:

Thanks Tony. I too already have the Comptech Icebox installed which definitely is about 20% louder than stock intake, but it's good to hear that the headers won't increase NVH as I can't stand loud cars.

You also have the Jtune mild reflash do you? Very lucky to be one of the very few who got it. In your opinion, which was the better mod out of the headers and reflash?

Tony doesn't have the reflash, just the Icebox and CT headers. Definitely an improvement over stock in a straight line though :)

No i don't have reflash, was considering it but not game to get it done as a they fried a few ECUs in the process not long back.Get the headers, they bolt straight up to the stock cat, cost approx.$150 for install and only increase noise marginally.
