View Full Version : Lowering and wheel alignment

I just put new tyres (cheers TALEB) on my EG. Running full ITR suspension including rear LCA's and swaybar.
I'm about to drop it 2" end of this week on King Superlows which I've been informed is pretty good bang for buck combo looks/performance wise.
My question is, what do/can I ask for to ensure after it's dropped all 4 corners are aligned and setup correctly (camber, tie etc) so that all my tyres wear evenly?
Just new springs and ask for a wheel alignment? Does that fix/correct toe or anything else that could be caused by the lowering?
And the million dollar question, after it's done -- how do I check the wheel alignment was done correctly? I don't know a reputable suspension place, so considering she drives/brakes straight without turning the guy could do nothing and pretend he touched it and I wouldn't know until 10,000K's when it's worn unevenly.
Cheers

expect a bumpy ride..i have 205/40 tires on my eg on munroe and low kings..and so bumpy not fun bumpy but bang bang whole dash shaking bumpy
go heasman for alignment, tell them what you want, they will do it right for you
sorry, just found out you probably don't live in sydney...
than copy the spec you want, and hand it in to some professional alignment shop, and tell them to give you a adjustment report afterward, than you will see what your car is running

ur not gonna be able to adjust ur camber without a camber kit.
depending on ur degree of negative camber, they should adjust ur toe in accordingly if they kno wat they're doing..

AS NSPYRE; camberkit (preferably with TOE arm too) required else byebye tyres.

You don't even know how much camber the guy will have after the spring install and yet you still spout misinformation like this. I have -5 and -3 camber front and rear and my tyres haven't said byebye yet. It is also very unlikely that the fellow will need "toe arms", I have never seen an earlier double wishbone honda unable to achieve zero toe with the stock toe adjustment parts.

Good information. Depending on how much negative camber you have after putting in the springs you may get away with just an alignment to set the toe correctly. I use zero toe front and rear and get quite good tyre wear.
Significant camber however will wear the inners of the tyres. Anything less than -3 isn't signficant in my book.

I agree completely with chargeR, I have -2 deg all round and no tyre wear issues. The most important thing is the toe setting.

Thanks mate, apppreciate it.
So you recommend to get a place (I think I'll go with Accurate Suspension in Brisbane), and get them to install the new springs and do a complete alignment to make sure everything is correct.
From this, I think I will also ask (they should be able to tell me right??) what negative camber I'm running front/rear, and from that decide if i'll run a camber kit.
Sound about right?
