Hi,

I just bought a used CR-V. It clocked 176K in mileage and i am not particularly sure that the previous owners have replaced the timing belt or not. I am not taking chances.

Are there anything I should change together with the timing belt? i.e. Seals, Water pumps? Tensioners? Do I need valve adjustment of some sort?

Thanks!

No. I am in Perth.

I called Burswood Honda today and they say they will not replace the water pump if it is still in good condition. Likewise for the seals and pulleys and stuff.

My colleagues say that I should replace these critical components since i am doing a timing belt change now and doing so will save cost in the long run.

What should I do? I am not that technically inclined.

Water pump is usually replaced with timing belt. It is cheap in part and labour cost next to nothing as timing belt replacement labour is already covering that.

For seals and other stuffs, they usually don't fail completely. They slowly get worn, you can choose to do them with the next timing belt change and save more labour cost...
