I currently still own my CK Vti-L Accord, and recently been contemplating selling it and picking up something new, however it is my pride and joy and it's just such a nice car.

So i'm thinking if i keep it, i really would like to convert to H22A or similiar just for more power and reliability. I have also considered Turbo conversion, however the transmission would probably not hold up.

Does anyone know if this has been done in this model of accord? or am i just wasting my time ?

Here are some pics just to update what my car is looking like at the moment.

Cheers guys

its not a waste of time. accord is a good base to start modding. however being in aus makes it a lil harder as parts are hard to come by... well at least not as much as in the US. and they're not all popular here...

if i were you, i'll sell it, and change it to cd5/cd6 accord. cheers.

It depends what your into mate. If you want to be an individual, modify your current car. Dealing with the fact that parts are harder to come by. That's the option I would take.

A turbod Ck would be very unique. Probable a lot of hassles and drama but in the end it would all be worth it.

Going by the posted pictures, your car is already beautiful!

Yeah, coming across parts are so difficult, which is why it makes my decision even harder.

If i sell it, i might go to either an s2ooo or 7th Gen Accord, i've been having a look at some of the threads and there seems to be a few around, and the interior of the 7th Gen is mint! But ofcourse that's not easy as you need much more money for another car !

Turbo CK accord would definetly come with a few headaches which i would like to avoid.

I've done a bit of searching and i can't seem to find any traders/dealers/shops which stock anything for this model accord. If any has seen or heard something please feel free to mention it here.

Thanks for your input so far guys. .

Thanks Jarkz.

Is there anything in Australia at all guys ? And have anyone actually bought anything from this website before? Reliability and trust is imporatant when spending so much money these days.

I've noticed a few CG and CK owners around here, not sure how many actually modify.

Hey Jet,
I've got a CK accord too, 2000 V6L in satin silver. cant tell from pics, but yours is the silver too?

your VTI-L looks really clean man, simple, sleek wheels and the car colour match really well, that's the way these accords look best i reckon, low and luxurious !

what size tyres/rims you running? stock springs or kings/coils?

I haven't done too much modifying yet, just added sub, amp, head-unit, CAI, exhaust tips and just yesterday added some new rims. staggered offset, 18x8 up front and 19x8 in the back. rolling my guards on wednesday too, scrub is not fun! apart from that i haven't modified much further. probably only going to add a new catback at the end of the year....there is quite a bit you can do on these though...

oh and back on topic...definitely keep and modify man. That's why i like the CK accords, they're a bit different as no one really modifies them that often like other models. Bit more unique and makes modifying them a bit more special, especially sourcing hard to find kit!

throw up some more pics man...

vtec_jet
16-05-2009, 03:38 AM
hey bud,

thanks for the comments.

The current rims i have are 18x7.5 all round, car is quiet low on compressed King's + Koni Shocks. i can't have anything bigger unless i roll my guards.

A few other mods here and there, my car has been through a few different mods, im sure you will find some pics around the forums here.

I'll post some more pics and details soon.

Throw up some pics of your car, sounds interesting so far.

Are you looking at any other mods besides the cat? Where are you getting your parts from mate?

RiceMeister
16-05-2009, 09:30 AM
yeah man, i've got the same issue. because i went for 18x8 and the 19s on the back ive got to roll my guards on the rear cause they scrub quite a bit, even in normal driving when I hit a bump...so thats an urgent fix for next week!

I'll throw some pics up this afternoon, going to take some shots of my new setup soon.

in terms of parts...i was looking at the magnaflow catback for my 6cyl off ebay or through the melbourne importers of magnaflow.

http://www.mvpautoparts.com/images/magnaflow/15640.jpg

from what I've read its a nice system, not over the top with volume, but pushes out a nice low tone. still getting it shipped here including taxes etc...is going to be around $1100.

in terms of other mods: im just going to do some small things i think, re-badging, new tint, front sway bar, clean the engine bay up with some new spark plugs and perhaps new shocks and springs as im currently running pedders lowered and they're getting a bit old...lost their stiffness a bit although the ride height is really good.

have you had any problems with your kings and konis man? in terms of scrub and so forth..?

FAT VTI
16-05-2009, 01:12 PM
get rid of it, and get urself a cd5.
reason- Easier to get parts, easier conversion (h22a), better turbo potential if u stick with f22b1, looks better, built to last, cheaper to buy.

Riviera

very nice car i quite like em but all depends what your after...

if its turbo or supercharge app, id sell bro... before the gearbox dies anyways...
turboing would be kool but the gearbox is no stronger than a CD5 GB...
with that extra torque as it is, they fail...

if VIP/cruiser, keep it, or get the later model theyre awesome in VIP mode
plenty of inspirational pics out there too ;)

Rice Meister - I havn't had any problems with my koni's or kings, however if i had a choice i would probably have spent a bit more and bought some coilovers, but at the time i didn't have the money, if i sell this set then i'll def get some coilovers.

FAT VTI - I've thought about it, but not really interested in Downgrading, and i'm not a huge fan of the CD5 shape or interior. The CK is much more comfortable and roomy inside as well. I would really be interested in doing something different that'll last. I don't seem to see anyone attempting to do anything major with the CK in Aus either.

Riviera - yeah i'm tempted to go later model, but i'm looking for black with low k's and leather .

you got a stock exhaust on urs man? or you added aftermarket?

vtec_jet
19-05-2009, 12:15 AM
there's is such a big gap and it still scrubs, damn..

Before you make any rash decision's, just really have a look around at suspension, you want the best product at the best price so dont rush it.

I've currently got a full 2.25 exhaust system. 4-2-1 header, high flow cat, nothing too extreme, just nice tone and simple system.

I'm looking to possibly upgrade the exhaust system if possible, i found a full turbo kit from a supplier in S.A, it's going to cost me around $4000 - $5000 just for the kit, plus much more which i don't think i want to go to if i know my transmission is going to die.

This is true, however i'm really not keen on downgrading.

Hey guys!
I hardly ever see any 6th generation accord owners on this website that have done much to their car.
I just commented on a thread about vtec_jet wanting to fix the transmission. Something i want to do myself as well.
THat lip above is the mugen lip kit, you can get it off ebay. However, it might be not so much of a good fit.
Yes, getting parts for the 6th gen is very difficult, the result however means you just have a unique car.
Every car has their own weakness, ours is just the bloody transmission. Get that fixed up and it would be a fairly stable car.
Rice meister did you end up getting your exhaust?
Once i finish school i'm going to get rid of my accord and get myself a XR6 turbo or a SS commodore. I've always been into the bulkier meatier cars.
Here is my car by the way.

Rice meister. I've got no exhaust running.
They're only dual exhaust tips i got welded on.
Our accords aren't that fast, so i've never thought it was worth putting on an exhaust.
post up pics of your exhaust! it'd be great to see!

oh it's a modulo rear bumper for the 7th gen accord.
Someone on this forum didn't like it so i bought it off him.
It's not a direct fit about 10 cm off would you believe.
Our 6th gens have huge asses. Requires extending, metal work, fibre glass/bog.
what do you think? suits or doesnt suit the rest of the car?

I have the type r lip on the front and it goes with the factory sides. I needed something for the rear, most of the rear lips for our accords have some sort of holes in it. I don't really want my car to look racey, hence, i avoided the hole stuff.
I'm really interested in seeing how vtec_jet rear lip looks like, what the fitment will be like, and where he got it in aus. I wonder if you can get a full euro-r lip kit for our 6th gens.

Most lip kits for our accords have to imported and they're not that great of a fit neither, even the front type r lip for me was a hassle. Ill fitment.

haha, looks like a sparked something in you guys !

Yes i sourced the Euro R Lip from e-Bay, Looked like a one off to me, since it was installed on an Accord before. I'll try get more details on the buyer, seemed to have plenty more items.

I'll Take some photos when i receive it, and also sus out the fitment, seems to fit fine from the photos, but you never know from e Bay.

I was hoping to get a full kit, but the side skirts and front lip would not fit on the Aus model 6th Gen. So i didn't want hassles.

I was going to purchase the Type R lip, but seeing as a couple of you 6th Gen Mad Dogs already have one (haha) i might go for something diffrent, so i chose the Mugen front lip.

So hopfully when its all installed i can give you guys a sneak peak and we can all go for a photo shoot as well, i'll be back in Melbourne soon enough and will be staying around Cheltenham area.

Anthony, your rear lip looks good IMO suits well, the only thing i would change is taking off the spoiler, thats just me.

Oh and just to mention there has been a lil custom work done to my car which i won't mention yet, just gona have to wait for the pics :p

The grill of the Aus 6th Gen accord (98-00) is attached to the Bumper bar, it's all one piece.

You'd have to cut the grill and plastic weld all the holes and crap, too much work unless you own a later model 6th gen (01-02), which the grill can be seperated.

this is what i was talkin about. i think this is the best oem style 6th gen accord grille. in the country where i was from, they only had this type (malaysia accord):

Received my Euro - R Lip today, Its not an aftermarket Lip, its actually OEM, which surprised me !

I've left it at workshop to be sanded down, primed and resrpayed.

I trial fitted it however my muffler was in the way, so as soon as i have everything fixed and fitted i'll post up some pics !

oh it's a modulo rear bumper for the 7th gen accord.
Someone on this forum didn't like it so i bought it off him.
It's not a direct fit about 10 cm off would you believe.
Our 6th gens have huge asses. Requires extending, metal work, fibre glass/bog.

lol, Thats my old Modulo Rear skirt , I sold it to Anthony a while back, he is really amazing, he done all the work extending the rear lip aswell, and it came out mint!
