Hi All -
I recently purchased a Honda Integra 1994 with a 1999 VTi-R engine. :)
The new engine has done 78,000 ks.

I want to put on:
- Cold Air Intake
- Throttle Body
- Exhaust Extractors
- Eventually work in some Toda Cams
- Future - head or block work

Thoughts?

I have just bought a K&N Apollo Cold Air Intake Universal Kit.
I have a few mates who have owned honda's who are willing to install it with me.

I have been thinking, while I have the hose to the throttle body off, to install the cold air intake, should I be upgrading the throttle body?

What is the stock throttle body for the B18C2?

I have found an "upgrade" for the "Honda Acura Integra VTIR VTEC B18C 68mm Throttle Body"
Yea? No?

Toda Cams - kick ass??
Block work or Head work?

Any positive input/thoughts appreciated - as this is my first Honda or VTEC.

Cheers,
And I want a beast.

Hey Congrats on the Integra, VTECYO!!
Post some pics up in the intro section when you get a chance =)

All i can say is do the I/H/E first up then tune it wen u get the cams in, Toda are awesome cams, im sure someone with more knowledge will give u a detailed response to your thoughts =) welcome to the world of vtec yo haha

Congrats on your car
I/H/E would be the first steps.
I wouldnt worry much about throttle body till you have a full exhaust system. If i remmeber correctly having a larger throttle body will allow more airflow. Im not to sure for the integra but if your exhaust is to restrictive a larger throttle body will make your car run worse off compared to stock throttle body.
Someone will have to confirm as im not to sure though.

Injen intake
5zigen/mugen/spoon/toda headers
2.25 custom cat back w/ high flow cat
HD clutch w/ Lightweight flywheel
Hondata

In that order. Will sound super hot and go hard. Easy 115kw dyno's atw.

definitely I/H/E for the first step as anyone else has mentioned.

its better to do the intake, throttle body at the same time you do extractors and catback. or at least the catback.
Larger amount of air going in and smaller amount of air going out = not the best performance.

do head work first and see if you like it. if you want to do block work might as well do the head.

and ECU tuning will be the last one to do.

when first modding mate. stick with the basics like everyone said.
i/h/e.
decide what brands you want, and then do some research and see what brands work best with eachother. different combinations like headers and exhaust, will get you different gains to some others. once you get your i/h/e, look at an ecu, such as neptune or hondata. one of these will allow you to later on get cams, individual throttle bodies, watever, which ever way you want to go.

also remember, dont skimp out, if your gona do something, do it right the first time.

congrats, and happy modding mate!

^^ Exactly. Then the next things I would look at are:

4.7 Final Drive
Cluth
Lightened Flywheel
Mill the head

then re-tune OR do it all at once and it will be cheaper.

get vtec controller

save for something with more capabilities.

get vtec controller

VTEC controller won't do anything with a stock engine. especially stock internals. lowering the VTEC engagement point won't necessarily make the engine produces more power.

Tuners up in Japan actually bump up the VTEC engagement point on their highly worked engines.

sorry to hijack the thread! but i've got a question regarding bumping up the vtec engagement point... when i bought my car it had an APEXi VAFC2 installed and the vtec engagement set to kick in at 6000prm. stock engine with aftermarket extractors. now that i've done the rest like intake and exhaust do i need to retune it? should i retune it to the stock engagement point? or should i just save my money?

You don't have too...but you will should,I mean you spend all that money on engine parts a tune will make more power maximising the potential of those parts, make the car run smoother and it will run more fuel efficient so the tune will pay for itself.
The tuner will find the best VTec engagement point for how the set up is now.

thats right beeza :p ^^^agree once again.
its not essential, but its better to.
there is no general point of vtec that is best, its all dependant on your car set up.
although honda made the stock vtec point for a reason

as mentioned by Beeza.

after the tune, you will also find (besides all the enhanced power) that on normal drive, ur car will use similar fuel as the OEM setup (providing the tuning is right)

Cheers for the input - I agree I/H/E

At the moment my VTEC doesn't kick in until about 4 - 5 k/rpm.
I love the fact it revs out quite high, but my "problem" at the moment is it takes too long to get there!

What kind of setup and brands should I be using to achieve a quicker low range, but maintain the higher ranges?
What works best with Integras?

Intake - I already have a K&N Apollo Universal Cold Air Intake

Headers -
Toda
Xforce
Hurricane

Exhaust - looking for dual tip - squarish or round.
HKS
A'PEXi
Greddy/Trust
Mugen
Spoon
Buddy Club
5zigen

Lightened Flywheel -
I haven't heard of many brands, but here are a few.
Xact
Exedy
Fidanza

Cams-
Toda!!
Buddy Club
Skunk2

Head and Block -
Mill the Head and work the Block
Throttle body while I'm at it.

ECU -
Spoon
Hondata?

Brakes -
Brembo

It already has a Sports Clutch - its very hard and springy. Not sure what kind - maybe upgrade later on.

VTEC Controller -
A'PEXi
Buddy Club

whats your budget
what type of power do you want
what type of driving will you be doing?

SHARPiE

Budget - 6 to 8k over a 18 month period

Type of power - low range is lacking, but i want to maintain the nice high range of the VTEC

Type of driving - mainly city driving - to and from work, but i want to take it out to the hills for some weekend driving.

if you want more low range, i would go for a short ram instead of a cai. i had a cai and replaced it with a short ram + nsx airbox. straight away i noticed the low range gain. more torque and response was seen with the addition of the airbox.

be sure to get 4-2-1 headers also to improve low range. as for TB, don't think much improvements would be seen, best bet is to get a Skunk2 IM ! goodluck mang !
