Hey guys, new to the forum. Looking at buying a 95 eg with a b18c. Just wanting to know how reliable this setup is. Not too concerned about the engine and gearbox as i have heard good things about both. Thinking more of whether the engine mount and chassis can handle the extra power.

Just don't want to buy a car that i have to work on all the time. I previously owned a turbo swift and just got over working on it all the time.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

b18c in an eg is veery reliable. as reliable as oem.

Thinking more of whether the engine mount
depends on what engine mounts are used in the setup.

can the chassis handle the extra power? I think the question is whether you can handle the extra power :P look around on this forum and you'll see 2.4L engines in eg hatchbacks. If you look on www.honda-tech.com (US version of ozhonda) their eg hatchbacks sport 6 cylinder engines...i think thats enough evidence .

I can handle the power. My swift was running about 20psi. Around 190hp. I kept breaking gearboxes.

What engine mounts should be used for reliability...?

well if u reliability hasport b series mounts are the way to go they are designed for conversions to b series they also have k series and i believe h series.

well put it into perspective any engine can fuk up.. if u maintain it well change the oils when required and do maintenance on time u can keep ur b18c for a lifetime... but if u thrash it dont take care of it.. i give 2 months then ur vtec falls off literally

My cars all have been serviced every 2000-3000kms. What you mean about vtec withh fall off? Exessive damage?

Vtec won't literally "fall off", you might just run bad if you thrash it, B18C's are reliable with regular services every 5000kms.

EG with B18C very good all-rounder.

well stock a b18c has 170 aus spec/180 jdm spec hp stock depending on what type you get
easy can handle more than that
honda engineering is alot better than most other car companies
swift wasnt made to handle double its power lol

Hold on guys, I was under the impression that when swapping a B18C into an EG, that you could just use the stock engine mounts on the B18C.

i believe u can.. and there is no problem with it but hasport mounts are much stiffer and i believe much better qaulity then stock

if u want your car to vibrate
then yes
its only better than stock because most oem mounts are over 10 years old now
get new oem mounts or spoon ones over hasports anyday imo

I was only saying that you can use OEM because the thread was leading to the fact that you NEED aftermarket mounts to chuck B18C into EG, but you don't so that should save op a bit of money.

i think it is a good ideas to upgrade the brake for extra safety and a good suspension for fun ride

if u have a EG3(carby) one, u get a drum rear brake, and brake on the front might be a bit too small.

usually people swap the front with the half cut they get when they do the engine convertion.

but i strongly recommand disc brake the the rear.

suspension is up to u, i think it might have a high chance of under steering, and torque steering. suspension helps.

and better tyres also allow u to have fun with ur car.

b18c has different versions too.. so should check which version..
b18c was found in integra vti-r with only 125kw/170hp..
b18c also found in integra type r with 141kw/189hp..

i dont know what is different technically between the two but i know which one i'd prefer..

type R is hand build, balanced as well.
the oil sump is buffled.oil pump is believed to be different, intake manifold are different, higher compression than vtiR, the gear ratio can be eith 4.4 or ~4.7(cant remember), LSD, 5 studs on the wheel, bigger brakes, bigger master cylinder, better header, .................................................. ........
