Are you going to remove the resonator as well? The K&N is definately a worthwhile upgrade for those who aren't willing to install a CAI or SRI.

resonator? isnt that for the exhaust? i wanted an SRI but im a bit short on cash and then i remembered that one of the reasons i wanted this car was cause of fuel efficiency. these days 1 months petrol is about the cost of a new intake. in the i settled with the filter
i didnt have time to put it in today (i know i know takes like 1 min to do) but i wanted to take pics and record the sound difference etc in one go. and bogged down today cause of easter. plus it rained.
maybe tommorrow if i have time

Thanks :D I wasn't a huge fan of the modulo grill because i didn't think it fit in with the rest of the car, kind of makes it look too sporty i think! I guess it does what they intended though, maybe a little too well haha.
The J's Carbon Fibre roof fin just arrived today. I was looking at getting a normal one that looks like the Acura TSX antenna one but in the end opted for this one as its not much more than the other once paint matched and CF looks cool :p Will get some pics up :D

jks24
13-04-2010, 04:50 PM
why is the standard one better?
just my parents said they didnt want to spend the extra cash for the lux but then they went and spent like 5k or something on accessories for their base model

in fact i like them so much i wont change them for a long time. they look particularly good at night when reflecting light

17-04-2010, 10:09 PM
"Better" in what sense? That they're bigger? That they reflect light at night? That the tires are harder to find? Not having a go at you, just wanna know how they're "better".
kimnkk
17-04-2010, 11:58 PM
I guess we can argue that the lux is not worth it over standard all day long but it comes down to preferences. Some will prefer the ~$7k in their pockets while others prefer the features.
For me, its the features. The leather is better than the CL9 one and also not like the Mazda or subaru leather. It has other things as well, like 18" wheels, seat warmers, 8 way electric and memory seats, sunroof, auto dimming mirror, auto leveling xenons with washers and parking sensors front and rear.

ok guys, i noe i posted that i bought the K&N air filter for the CU2 like a month ago. but ive been super busy and lazy to even pop the hood (or wash the car for that matter) and install the damn thing
after i finished uni today, since ive left it in my boot for the whole time, i decided to install it and test it before i get my service soon.
ok the trip back home was peak hour, so tons of start stop traffic at all sorts of hilly inclines. there were plenty of long stretches of traffic free road as well. then when i got to my house i drove around the block a bit. fortunately for me, the block my house sits on is on the side of a hill. at the top of the hill is a long flat road. there are two REALLY steep inclines leading to the bottom of the hill where my house is. so i drove up and down the hill from standstill. and tested it on the flat road too.
conclusion?
THIS THING IS THE F**ING BOMB YO! XD :D:D:D
i noe its just an air filter. but just physically, its only half the thickness of the OEM ones. The quality is amazing and as u know its reuseable.
I didnt expect to notice anything different, but there was noticeable more engine growl and THROTTLE RESPONSE IS AMAZING! I even tested it with the aircon on, which usually sucks half the power away, and yep its alot better. My cu2 revs so much better now.
best $60 ive ever spent!

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=69-0026TS
wtf isnt that just a CAI.
how much is it.
id rather just get the injen since its designed specifically for the euro
btw last night after 24kms of driving with light friday night traffic, highway, start stop and hilly roads. averaged about 8L /100km
previously, 10.5L/100km normal day to day driving
with the air filter and maniacal driving and acceleration touretts, i get about 12L/100km. i swear having the air filter uses more fuel, prolly cause it revs harder
but today, carrying on from last night, total of about 74kms driven. averaged 9L/100km fuel consumption. using ultra fuel conservative driving style. no hard revving or accelerating. not that bad except id go crazy being on edge driving like that everyday.

16-05-2010, 02:05 AM

thought k&n is US too
btw i am so sad
my dad close the garage door on my car
luckily it hit my wing spoiler and i braked quickly
shaved off a thin layer off the top of my spoiler
u can see scratches and that the paint is duller.
the scratches are white, and not that deep (because the door had a rubber lining but some metal bits)
sigh so depressed. at least i have an excuse to get a mugen wing now lol
fark that's shattering. especially to a CU2, hope it's cheap to fix it dude. best of Luck.

$500 is like half price from the ebay one i saw.

its only $90 something for a mugen mesh grill replica with carbon fibre top (the acura tsx grill but cf)
and $290-$300 for the type S kit, primed, no colour.
Thats CHEAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

i knew thered be a catch somewhere, for the first supplier, the Type S bodykit price is cheap
but shipping is $492 USD door to door shipping via DHL.....WTF YO!! thats more expensive than the kit + grill together!
they said that i can provide my own shipping agent to pickup from them.
But they said that that is already teh cheapest price out of TNT DHl and UPS
does any1 know who else provides shipping services that are cheap? i thought hong kong post had their own service
otehrwise i m gunna have to ship to china and get relos to organise shipping.

LOL, i ended up getting that paint protection as well as full window tinting (darkest legal tint) for only $1050 on top of buying my CU2, at first the blonde said to me she'll do it for $1,550, and to live up the Asian stereotype, i asked for a discount and make it $1000 since it was my "first car", the girl says ok let me check with my boss, comes out and says "$1050!" I say "what's the 50 for?", She says "G.S.T". So i accepted the offer, and got a nice kiss from her on the cheek on the way out to go home. Honda Marketers these days are so smart.

hmmm remember furythree i told you that i had some entertainment with the guy at rick damelian(hmm wondering why it was guy he was very slow in talking saying hmmm hmm, you seems tight budget ah atleast 10times with that 35mins) not a chick, but there was a nice chick also tried to sell me finance and honda insurance)...he started all those protction package(paint protection, underguard rust, vynal you name all these mate)said normally worth 3500, only for you as you are a special customer 2500, He was showing some nice pictures with rusty 10yrs old car pic, and shiny car pic and show me a demo wooo)i said replied as hmmm it seems interesting, but i dont want it......then he said how about pait protection for 1200...I said no thanks.. Then he said as i am buying a good quality car he wanted to makesure i get the best service to lookafter me from skin cancer(for windows tine,oh god these people seems using all sort of medical reasons to sell these things)with tint and also to protect your nice car paint from acid rain....he said if i pay paint protection for 790, he can give tint for just extra 1 and extra 1 for matt...I said again thanks mate for your concern on my health.. I got a mate knows how to do these things its already getting 5.15pm i need to travel far home...Then that guy said ahh its already 35mins gone ah....Then we just walked away..
What i am trying to tell here is, the paint protection may helpful i dont know...But i park in garage so i didnt want it.....Plus just think logically, i never seen someone reduce the price for the thing suddenly from 3500 to 2500 then 1200 to 790 plus extra 1 for tinting......What does this shows... Just say if anyone got the full package for 2500 just imagine how much profit they are getting instantly(or try to get the money back which i got the car cheap from haggling from salesguy)...
Just curiously is here any detailer here, can tell how much excatly cost from pocket to do the high quality paint protection, rust underguard protecion and vynal protection...

This glare infinity plus costs about $70 to buy a bottle.

guys would anyone be interested in buying a type S front lip and side skirt replica and mugen rear lip off me if i went ahead with my bodykit purchase? i really want the type S rear bumper with the mugen sides and front.
but the stupid supplier is quoting me half the price of the whole kit just for the single rear bumper alone, because hes obviously not making enough profit selling single parts. i am going to buy the mugen replica either way. but the fact that the rear bumper is jacked up to half the price, (even tho it is already ridiculosuly cheap lol) makes me hard to justify the purchase.
i believe it is primed no colour and polyeurothane.
im just probing to see if i can offload a perfectly good part to sum1 for a purchase im going to make either way.
its going to cost roughly $300 min for that set
and mods, not this isnt a group buy. and im not really selling anything cause its not on hand yet.
i just feel that the money saved would be better spent on fitament and paint. and sum1 else wud benefit with a cheap kit themselves. and we cud both drive around with inverse bodykits lol
otherwise its just mugen replica only

When I got my new car they didn't even bother me with paint protection! Choose car, negotiate price, sign and off we went :P
As Denot said, look out for duties, etc. Also another thing to consider is payment. You need to get Letter of Credit at a bank which is another % on top (can't think of the exact %) that you pay so you have some protection. e.g. you pay them they say they shipped it and then it doesn't arrive. Whereas with the LoC, the bank will only pay once you get the goods.
I'm just cautious of fitment from China :/

either way if u think about it $300 for a mugen replica for a cu2. its rare enough as it is, this is great value! And since im paying via paypal, im gunna make a claim if it doesnt fit. lol
I heard that u can adjust them to make them fit. how does that even work.
anyway. even if currency conversion and fees and $45 delivery (im getting it shipped to china, where my dad is gunna bring it back. im sure two 1.7m, 6kg boxes are fine to check in as luggage right?)
considering that the guy here was selling for $500 plus delievery for type S. i think this is good value since im getting mugen and its $100 cheaper.
if someone is willing to buy the rear lip kit off me, then i can even buy the type S rear lip. the person is charging $130usd for the lip. which is a rip, but i think i saw the lip being sold for $100 or under somewhere else.
do u guys think its a good idea to get rims from china as well, i might as well go for springs and exhaust while im at it.
its like $300-500 for a set of each. i just dunno whether branded stuff is cheap in china, or go for no branded stuff.

I used to consider shipping rims from Indonesia myself but the shipment costs, duties and customs fee set me back. Still its a personal choice though.

I have had experience importing a front spoiler and a set a rims from oversea before (for an old BM). And regardless of what value myself or the seller quoted, the Australian custom put an extra $150 on the spoiler and $800 on the wheelsx4. They insist that was their best estimate on the value of the parts.... man.... that was painful. (not to mention the postage of the wheels all the way from Germany.

Hey guys, was just reading this thread when I came across some of you guys talking about import taxes and stuff. I currently have a bodykit pending shipment to Aus. A logistics company is doing it for me, and they just gave me a price that I had to pay. Does that include the duties that all of you mentioned? My bodykit is second hand by the way the the REAL VALUE is actually very cheap....Now im worried that they are going to tax me heaps since they're already charging me $500 to ship it in. Also I was planning to get some rims overseas soon, and they're about 700AUD for the set of 4? How much you think that will set me back then?? If not then I guess i'll have to live with stockies until I have more mula..

so what was the real value of the kit that they wud tax u $150? Even say 10% tax, for $150 mean they estimated it to be $1500??
last time i imported a mugen visor. It cost me around $300. i didnt want insurance so lying about the value wudnt have mattered either way. The seller was nice enough to offer 2 receipts. one was the real one, hidden away. and the other was the "low value receipt for import purposes". He put the value as $50 and placed it near the outside of the box so that customs could check against the tax invoice if they ever doubted me.
I didnt ask them to do this, they just emailed me two copies of these receipts right after paying.
I thought that was really nice and smart of them.
maybe to avoid having customs slap on extra taxes is to have a receipt proving the value. they cant really argue against that. I have heard that they have their own auditors who value the goods and check invoices, but i know with limited resources, they only do this for high value goods, which basically means business imports. If its just one item, they wont check. and the dude on the other end will just confirm that its low value anyway.
Does anyone know however, what the actual import tax conditions are? like i know for computers, as long as its under $1000, theres no tax. But for car parts is there a threshold like that?
in other news, after some emails. for anybody looking to import a mugen replica to australia. the other seller got back to me.

Mugen kit was quoted to be $350 USD.
Shipping was $200USD roughly
expect the type S to be cheaper, maybe $300. i didnt ask.
making it $550 to import a full kit. thats a freakin bargain considering it has taken me over 1 year just to find anybody who even has ANY kits for the CU2, let alone mugen ones.
The real icing on the cake is that they even told me....
.....THEY HAVE THE MUGEN HIGH WING SPOILER! XD
all other sellers are selling the ducktail. prices range from $30 - 100
i know alot of u dont like it. but have you seen Sanyuh's blue modulo/mugen crossed cu2. its so smexy!
the price is $180
but im trying to negotiate it down.
THe thing is, do you guys think i should get it. I already have a modulo wing, (which my dad lightly grazed the protective layer off a section of, nothing major, but its not brand new anymore, lowering resale value...not that theres a market for it anyway). However, the mugen wing doesnt have brake lights like the modulo one does.
on the other hand, i think it looks awesome, and you guys know how rice i am. and rrp for genuine is well over $400usd plus shipping. $180 is a bargainnnnn considering the duck lips sell for half that price.

i was thinking that too, as much as i like the mugen wing, my car isnt lowered, so i dont think it will look as good. and its gunna be a while till i can afford some springs and new rims, which is why i was looking at the importing option. eibach have great reputation. they are about $600 or so a set here in Aust, but yes, import them for huge saving! They will work with the oem shocks, I haven't read of the shocks blowing out like on the cl9's.

I'm sure there is other springs available, but I haven't really looked.
Cheap kit, might be seriously interested........... I'm broke at the moment, but my car needs a bit of work.
where are ebach officially made? japan? wud china still be the cheapest place to source them?
what i meant was, springs are all u need to lower a car right? the shocks dont affect the height?
also what are genuine mugen parts usually made of if not polyeurothane?

I would say China = fake for Eibach. They are made in Germany or USA. USA seems to be the cheapest, but check price with Eibach Aust first.
Yeah, springs for lowering. Eibach lowers about 1" on our car, which is all I'd go anyway.
Don't know for Mugen, but i think polyeurothane.

If you want real eibach, they supplier is here on Princess Hwy (heismann or something). I think they made in USA. I agree with the others furry, to have the big ass spoiler, you will need a bigger rims and lowered car first. I decide to use Type R wing on my FD2 before, with 18" rims but not lowered and regret it... should've spend money on lowering first :)

wait $600 to lower 1"? seriously??? can u even notice the difference? the problem is i feel like my car is barely clearing speed humps and such these days. so that makes me think twice about lowering. i can just get my whole family to sit in my car. that will lower it by 1" for free.
i thought some guys here lower it more than 1" particularly the back since it sits so high

oh is that wat they are? u mean that long mud guard looking piece of rubber behind the front lip? i scrape that bugger 2 times a month. mainly driving over bumps too fast. shit myself everytime because of the scary sound it makes "oh shit i just scraped my lip". i go out and check and the car is fine lol.

I always enter my driveway on a slight angle to the driveway and at a slow pace otherwise I hear the awful and painful sound of scrapage! It's mainly that plastic wind deflector/guard thing that scrapes. Don't even want to know what it would be like if it was lowered

Mugen Kit
Mugen kit was quoted to be $350 USD.
Shipping was $200USD roughly
expect the type S to be cheaper, maybe $300. i didnt ask.
making it $550 to import a full kit. thats a freakin bargain considering it has taken me over 1 year just to find anybody who even has ANY kits for the CU2, let alone mugen ones.

hey guys, i was wondering, has anyone here, thought of, or has de-badged their CU2 and put a red 'H' badge yet?
i've always dreamed of doing it, when i had a silver CL9, just like EUR003 did, it didn't seem like hard work (just needed an EP3 Civic Type R Badge and a Euro R Sports Grille for the Front and a DC5R Badge for Rear).
But now that i got a Black CU2, i was wondering is it possible?
What Size Badges do i Need to replace em, and is it possible to de-badge the silver H badge off the stock Grille on the CU2 (3 Silver Bars Grille)?
If someone gets any info please post it up, or pm me please. And i will experiment and post photos up.
Thanks Everyone.

my mates dad works for honda. he tried to get me some free badges but apparently he said that they didnt have any red ones for cu2. and i know the sizes are a bit different.
that being said we have seen photos of the russian euros with red badges front and back so i have no idea..
in terms of removing them, theyre attatched via tape (so use heatgun) and the antitheft clips. so i think u need to access it by removing the grill and behind the bootlid

hmmm, very tempting to "JDM my CU2" but still not enough information to do it...
need to know which size Red 'H' Badge i need to order in from JDM yard/concept.
"Size" meaning, which red badge will fit on the CU2 eg. (Wild Guess): EP3 Civic Type R Badge (Front) and Integra DC5 Type R Badge (Rear)
don't mean to be selfish or anything, but i'll only do it if someone else does it first, don't wanna waste my money by ordering in the wrong badges..

hey nester how much did u pay for it? when i linked it to his ebay listing last time he was charging $990 but with 10% off
btw the kit is the exact same as the one i linked to u noe that? i think he sourced it from alibaba dealer cause i think even the jspec guys sourced it from alibaba. the alibaba dealers seem to be the ACTUAL manufacturers of the kits, theyre located in the car part manufacturing area in shenzhen china lolz. nuff said
u cudve saved a fair bit just importing it. like $400
also as an FYI guys, if u like that grille he's selling, and if thats the only mod u want to get. then get it from paul because i think shipping + grill is going to be more than $200 so its simpler and cheaper.
however if u intend to buy from the suppliers, i think they bundle in the grill into the shipping, so ur only paying $90 for the grill and prob $10 difference in shipping, shipped DHL to ur door
the only reason i didnt get it is cause i prefer a matte finish for carbon fiber (or a glossy one with very bright silver CF) using vinyl will just ruin the fact that its ACTUALLY CF. also the border around the edges is black, my euro is grey so the white strip we have around the grill looks really awesome.
But thats something a little paint could always fix. plus i adore the oem grill, the mugen grill is really just a wider (vertically) version of the acura grill in CF and mugen badged really

Wow if it really is custom made then they went to some great length doing it very similarly to OEM! Noticed they love their mesh in Russia.

ok nesterjester, I think i'm gonna have to call you my new best friend, HOW THE HELL DO YOU FIND THESE THINGS!?
OK, i'm gonna have to agree with you on the experimented Grille above with a JDM Red "H" Badge, it most likely would look a tad crowded due to the top and bottom bar already looking close.
Now keep in mind that i own a Black CU2.
My plans are either getting the Modulo Grille (Image stolen from Google because the JDM Concept website crashed, couldn't post up the part link from there, apologies if the car belongs to you): http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pDxqkvz-a_lPM-G2fcGhgNuPaoaVnjezmf0d9WnFYSg_OaJBWPdBLUprXv1QbZ9h 46CkmSNbIeB4XG91wsRgiDQ/front.JPG
and chucking the JDM Red 'H' Badge on that. (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290444721472)
OR
gonna do some of my own experiments on the OEM Grille, that is, re-paint the entire grille black (3 silver bars), de-badge the silver 'H' badge some how, and putting the JDM Red 'H' Badge on there.
Hopefully that all works out.
But still going to take a while, Need some CASH!

guys, i have been so excited with all the post and pics that have been posted so far with that custom OEM front grill, so I went to Honda and got myself a 'spare' grill. I got a real shock when I was quoted nearly $600 for the whole front grill set up - chrome, black plastics frame and the badge... but then amazingly, the parts people managed to find one that was taken off a recent new car when the guy got the Modulo front grill option, and they sold it to me for only $100. Better go and ask your local friendly parts/dealers quickly for a cheap deal!!!

hey guys, a random performance question.
alot of my friends have been getting mufflers onto their cars.
they all have single outlet exhuasts (R34 Skylines, EK1 Civic, EP3 Civic, Prelude etc.)
whereas we CU2's have dual outlet exhausts.
If i were to buy a universal bolt on muffler for the CU2 just for a nice sounding deep roar, would i have to order two of the same muffler since the CU2 has two outlets,
or i have the COMPLETE wrong idea LOL.

well put this way, a lot of people modify car not just performance gain. with this exhaust, people go for looks and sounds. i mean this is something is just not for everyone i suppose. some dont mind putting and some will. this is very natural occurace
some people will buy $1800 Louis Vuitton handbag and some wont. Functionality wise it is no different to your say $50 handbag. perhaps a $50 handbag can even carry more stuff (if space is the main reason you are buying a bag)
however as euroR pointed out himself, it doesnt stop him to have the desire to wanting to own one as he likes the sound of the muffler. fair enough it is not a cheap muffler but this is how fujitsubo price it, 111500 yen (about AUS$1500 exluding tax, duty and shipping cost to australia).
surprisingly in terms of sales wise, this exhaust was so popular that it was back order in japan for a while
in regards to gain, most exhaust gain will be above 4000rpm generally just because we talk about honda cars. it doesnt matter if you are driving FN2R, DC2, FD just as honda engine is to perform at high end and save petrol consumption at low end (thats why they created vtec that only use half of the engine at low rpm that consume half of the petrol consumption, and when people say it hit "VTec" thats when it is running at its full capacity)
buddah51au, i am not trying to run you down as you pointed out it is little gain for for $1900 but just sharing another perspective that people do buy exhaust with other factors in mind. if you have nice cars with bodykit, wheels, it just doesnt feel complete without an exhaust with nice tone and good looking if you know what i mean :D
there is another company in japan that make them. mugen make them but the cost is $2735 landed. they are retailed at 180000yen (about $2395 excluding gst, duty and shipping cost)

Denot, the A6 is definitely a step up from the A4 & as you say it has all the gadgets which is fine while there working. When you run into problems you will need a Bank Vault to fix it & believe me, Audi's have more than their share of problems.
As for the C200.......no no no no, you need to go to at least the V6 in either petrol or preferably diesel.
You could also look at a BMW 6 cyl which would be my choice in the class of cars you mentioned, once again their Diesel gets rave reviews.

I agree with your comments & the system sounds great. I also know & understand we need to pay for quality. Realistically, my comments were based on every day driving where very few of us would venture beyond 4000RPM, & then it would only be for very brief periods of time.
