I dont recommend, its because lowered springs have their spring rate increased to compensate for the lower ride height; chopped springs do not. It's not just an issue of bumpy ride quality, it can lead to very dangerous handling traits & will void any insurance claims you go to make later.

however what do you guys think about this?

most definately not, springs are designed to take weightand distribute the weight in a certain way amongst themselves, by chopping them your ruinining the balance.
anad u can get springs for significantly cheaper than 400 bucks dude, look in the FS section or just go get some king springs

You can get a set of king springs for under $300 but installation will cost ya another $100+ or so unless you DIY

DIY ftw,

i learnt to do it myself, took me around 4 hours, but if you know what your doing shouldnt take more than 1-1.5 hours

best way to learn !

don't chop for the above reason
i gave away my stock shocks and king superlows when i bought my coilovers, if only you were around then......

on another note, lol at 250 for chopping your springs................i would never pay someone for something you and a couple of mates can do in one afternoon, but seriously DON'T do it

man who ever quoted you that was a wank, u can get kingsprings fitted for around 300 these days, and also its not that hard to change if u look underneath u will soon relise how easy it is, i had a old eg and i took the springs out completly so it only rode on the shocks, low as hell but bumpy as crap, shocks lasted for a couple weeks, looked awsome but good old days

yeah man can't drive it too bumpy, too low (above one is) and scrapes everywhere, rubs on all 4 corners as soon as you turn etc.,,,,,,,

it's pretty easy to diy it, take off the shocks and springs, 2 nuts up top, one on the bottom, front's are on the forks (sit around your drive shafts, and the rears are on the lower control arm), once they're out get spring clamps, clamp the spring so it takes the tension off the top plate, undo the top plate (will need an allen key to hold the center from spinning as you undo the nut), have a look in the middle and you'll know what i mean, once that's off slide the spring out, put the new one on, clamp it, put the top back on and repeat it for the other 3 corners, should take you and a mate or 2 an afternoon to do it

BTW: you can get spring clams from autobarn

Boban

no worries mate, hope it helps. Also i'm currently rolling higher on the coilovers than i did with the superlows, found them to bee too low as well, i had 17's on and it would rub under heavy load, maybe if i got some stiffer springs and shocks if would've been ok but ohh well, spent the money on coilovers so if i want i can always lower it back down

Note, my mates had chopped their springs recently, well its been like 3-6weeks. From what we have notice is that springs/shocks will sag gradually and the ride becomes uncomfortably.

DOnt trust ebay, might as well get proper coil overs, but it isnt worth doing for my ED.
I'll just try grab some pedders

mate had chopped springs, the shocks fkd out then started munching the bump
stops....

another mate also had compressed springs, they fkd the shocks also, and again
ate away at the bump stops

chopped springs are illegal because they are at risk of falling out of the shock
absorber plates that the springs sit on, and they also dont allow travel once the
shocks are fkd... ur supposed to have 2 3rd's suspension travel, so this highway
patrol officer told me, he got me for being too low. on coilovers...
even though coilovers are legal...
