So the alarm disarms but the central locking wont open the door?
go inside the car and manually open/close the door lock a few times, see if its seized or somethings feels like its binding.

might also have to replace the actuator, costs about $11 from jay car and very easy to do so you can diy it. well that's what happened when mine stopped working atleast

i tried my back up remote same thing, the central locking only works when i have to lock the car, the alarm it self is fine jus that it doesnt open up with the remote i think the central locking is okay because it works when i do it manually,
Not sure wat it could be

probably the actuator then, open up the door panel and inspect it first.

I have this same problem, and I can't lock the car door from the inside. The button/switch thing is stuck and it wont lock. Anyone know why?

Do you hear any mechanical movement at all near the door when you press the key?
Open the door panel and inspect the actuator and rod if it moves at all when you press the alarm key. Its fairly easy to get the door panel out, just a couple of screws and clips.

definetely sounds like your actuator man, it's seperate you your actual standard central locking system, that's why it still works when you lock/unlock it with the key
as flip said, pull your trim off and have a look if there's any movement when you press the buttons on the remote, could be that it's just come loose off the rod
pm me if you get stuck and i'll take some pics of my setup

Use a multimeter to check the actuator wires for current. If there is, then the actuator is probably seized. You can buy a new one at jaycar for like $15

Same problems just happened to me. (1996 EK Civic sedan vti)
I have after market keyless entry, (which I got because the drivers side door lock was too fiddley every time I tried to unlock it)
They guys set it up so that my park lights flash )as opposed to indicators in most), which suits me fine because I have a bunch of LED's wired in with my park lights.
It's worked fine for the past 8 months that I've had the car.
But, yesterday when I got home, I went to lock the door with my remote and none of the doors locked.
All the park lights flashed as they usually do, but as the drivers side did not lock, the central locking didn't lock any of the other doors.
So the remotes working and everything else is working.. just not actually locking the door.
there no noises whatsoever, the lock to push down is fairly stern and doesnt like to move.
can anyone suggest what might be the problem?
anything I can try or look for?
and frankie, did your auto-electrician tell you what wires needed replacing?
+ was it expensive?
if anyone can give me an indication on where my problems are, that would be great.
unlocking the passenger door climbing over to unlock the drivers side, then getting out and walking around to get back in is going to wear thin pretty quickly with me haha :(
