Just wondering if you can just untwist the OEM shift knob from a DC5S and swap it with an aftermarket one or do you have to take out the chrome clip and leather covering? Has anyone tried the Civic TypeR spherical knob on the DC5S? Can it fit?

Pull down on the boot to unclip from knob. Unscrew knob off.

Almost all Honda manual knobs are interchangeable because they share the M10 x 1.5 thread. You will have to take off the clip from the boot side, invert the boot and cable tie it to the stick so that it looks like an inverted umbrella. When you pull it back down over itself, the boot will look neat around the stick, so that you can put the Type R knob on with the boot held up on its own.

Has anyone put aftermarket knobs on their DC5 Types? The Mugen one looks quite nice as well, can you just unscrew the OEM knob and screw the new one on without fiddling around with the boot?

Any1 got pics?

Then it will fit your DC5S.

Done it before. Cheapest best mod if you don't have a shift boot collar. Cost only 1 cable tie too! Just remember to cover up the sharp edge of the cable tie with some tape after you have trimmed off the excess length. Sharp edges can rub against the inside of the boot and wear a hole in it.

Did it today. Looks pretty good with Civic Type R shift knob. Bought the shift adapter from ClubRSX and fitted on.

Without the adapter, the gear numbers imprinted on the knob is nice and straight. When I put the adapter on, the knob just can't turn enough to get the imprints straight again. See picture.

Any suggestions? Maybe force the adapter into the shift rod abit more helps?

Shift knob adapter purchased from Club RSX, see link for adapter picture:
