eg6 front lip install

I feel mega noob for asking this but anyway.....I got a genuine eg6 lip from honda, looks right. So i tried fitting it to my eg4 (gl model) and it wont fit as they're is a black moulding on the bottom of the stock front bar that prevents it. Sure if i really tried and wanted to i could cut the bar up to make it fit but i dont want to, and i thought eg6 lip would fit all eg hatchbacks easily.

I've noticed that the front bar on other eg's like some eg5's ive seen for example is different and doesn't have this black moulding on the bottom of the bar. Did i pretty much waste money on the eg6 front lip because it doesnt fit eg4?

You can see that black moulding that is part of the stock bar in the picture below. it is not removable.

it should fit mate, if u bought the hatch model and ur cars a hatch . it would fit any hatch eg's

OP, my eg5 has this black moulding that you speak of.

yeh i know it should fit. i had the car on a hoist and im very mechanically minded etc but the eg6 lip i have definitely doesnt want to fit over the existing black part.

Unless its not actually and eg6 lip and honda stuffed up. i might try and cross reference the part numbers tomorrow.

hey man, part # is: 08F01-SR3-500
it should be straight fit man, possibility that your front bar is aftermarket type. do you mean it dosnt fit at all or there are slight gaps?

I just fitted an EG6 lip & I know exactly what he means...... will PM you straight away now mechanic & help you out!

Actually I'll just help you out here. I just fitted my EG6 lip yesterday & found myself staring under the car like how the hell is this supposed to fit.

Solution:-

You must take off the front bar!!!

5 black screws as soon as you pop the hood on top of the radiator
2 screws underneath the car
2 screws under your wheel arch (must push the black plastic back to get to it)
Wriggle it out...

Once the front bar is removed flip it upside down. Put the silver clippings onto your front bar & black screws should be with your EG6 lip. I think you should be able to work out what to do now.

I wish someone told me to take off the front bar then I wouldn't have spent like 1 hour trying to work it out. If you have any problems, PM me. Good luck

i didnt have to remove anything ey, simply just gettin under the car.

found the problem.
my part number is 08F01S04600 whereas thanks to riruiz 88 i now know the eg6 part number is 08F01-SR3-500

so it was honda delivery stuff up. getting it swapped.

was totally doing my head in how i was supposed to make it fit since id heard everyone say how easy it was haha

Seems you got a sedan lip instead of a hatch lip brendan. They arent the same.

lip is straight forward, should come with instructions to put it on. Slide the 11 'C' clips onto the front bar, and bolt the lip to the C clips. Piece of cake.
