hey no i havent tried changing the battery it is a couple yrs old maybe 3, there was some build up on the terminals which i cleaned off, so i will get a new battery and see if that fixes it.

mate, take it to supercheap, autobarn or repco and have them test ur battery for a dead cell.
always the best place to begin, its free to test too.

Ok cool yeh will get them to test it, was curious aswell if it could be a faulty alternator? so it keeps dropping off the charge

could be 1 of many things, however start with the source of power= battery, easiest to test & to replace :D

I reckon it is your alternator. Especially if you are driving at 2000-3000rpm and you still get the battery light flashing.

is there a way of getting the altenator tested?

Measure the voltage at the battery terminals using a multimeter when the engine is running. It should read 14V. If it is 12V or lower, then your alternator is dying.
