depends what kind of aftermarket foglights you have, and how much did you actually get, switch, wires relay...... from the relay there's only one wire going to the foglights (the positive) so connect that to the positives on the foglights and the negative ground somewhere safe on the chassis and off you go

bludger, i got a ek wiring diagram if that helps otherwise pm me what you need and i'll take pics off my eh

from what I gather, the aftermarket brand fog lights use a single harness? where as the oem ones use a cabin harness and a exterior harness. but if you wanna see how to wire up a oem switch to a aftermarket harness it should be something like this...

this is for a ek so it might be slightly diffrent, but u should get the idea...

instead of re-wiring it to match the button, could i add wiring to this oem harness to join my fogs? because the engine bay wiring and relay on my fogs has melted and i cut it all out. it looks like the switch basically has everything but the wiring to the foglights.

the person i bought the switch off sent me a wiring diagram. im not sure how to read it. any help is appreciated

oddly enough, one of my friends just got EG 3 door fogs in the mail today. The wiring harness is split into 2 parts, one interior and one exterior. The interior one uses a plug very similar to the OEM one. it only connects to the exterior harness via 1 red wire. presumably the signal cable for the relay.

but if your harness has the relay on the interior side, im guessing its just the power to the bulbs on the exterior, getting power from somewhere inside.

heres what I gather from the pic you've got. if anyone else has any ideas feel free to chime in...

options slots are in the fuse box under the dash

yeh i think your right, i used to have an aftermarket set and it only had the 1 relay but it sat on the outside. i think il need to get a pro electrician to have a look and see if he can whip up the remaining cable. btw ''exterior'' should be ''fuse'' (bad pic i know) thanks for your help

thx for the rep :D

Well if your confident with a soldering iron, I'd suggest to do it yourself... shouldn't be to hard if you rip off all the electrical tape first to see what goes where, and begin labeling what plugs do what.

Things to note down if you do, do it yourself:
option2plug -> draws power should be directly connected to fuse (however this is also fused in the engine bay fuse box 30amp if I remember correctly)
option4plug -> signal from your lights (turns on the backlight on the switch)
ground -> if not connected correctly, your lights wont work and your relay will click a dozen times.

I don't see the wire that goes to the exterior, but that should be insulated if u wire it up to a connector (like a spade or bullet).

if you need anymore help, you can just post... just helped my friend install his harness in his EG, but yet to cut the bumper (its exam time -_-)

btw it might be wrong above, but im pretty certain its close ;p

thanks again mate, the wire that goes to the exterior is that black insulated bit thats been cut off. its above the fuse that you labelled "to exterior". at least i think it should be. thanks again for the info, il see how i go
