Hey im looking at doing some upgrades. I would do the h22a conversion from my f22b, but im on the new p plate laws so apparently i cant drive a blue plated vehicle. I was wondering if i could change over the head to a DOHC vtec h22a, still be illegal but less obvious.
what do you think? any other suggestions?

Im sure the f22 blocks can accomodate the h22 head (im guessing thats where the term H2B comes from? =/). Dont know of any things to look out for or things to do prior to fitment.
But seriously. Your engine number will stil lstay the same.
If cops REALLY know their hondas. Just say its a custom rocker cover.
If they try act smart ass. Show them the engine number.
It aint illegal to change heads. Theres no way to trace a "stolen" head. There is no "Head number". They only have a series number. But they dont have a unique number of its own.
You dont really need to notify the authorities that you modded your car.
I mean .. come on .. lol.

You cant put a h22a head on an f22a engine from his EXi or VTi f22B engine.

The best upgrade would be vtec f22b1's from the VTi, or wait and do a h22a swap.

apparently you can do swaps from f22b1 which is sohc vtec to h22a so wouldnt it be possible to go f22b3 sohc non vtec to h22a?

it be far from a straight swap putting H series heads on F series Blocks.

Your not getting confused with a non vtec h23a engine + h22a head are you?

Just because someone did it to their lancer doesn't mean you can do it to an accord. However, in this case as zillacles has linked there is a swap people call a g22/g23 with any one of the f22 or h23 blocks with a h22a head. I haven't done much research but here is another thread about it with a parts list and steps involved.

no thats not where the term h2b comes from. H2B is a h22a with a b series gearbox.

or get an f23 from a 98 accord. sohc vtec, 110kw at the fly. hardly worth the effort.

just stick to your f22b.

I remeber asking the RTA about a H22a swap for my accord,

I remember the mechanic saying something about you can do a straight swap without it being engineered aslong as its -10 or +10% in kw's ?

I'd imagine a H22A swap would be legal for a p plater, afterall the H22a is in a prelude anyway ! :P
