Guys,

I've had a quick look but cant find any straight answers one way or another regarding CAI and Road worthy Certificates. I'm about to sell my Euro with K&N CAI ( pod in the bumper behind the fog light) and I'm about to take my car for a road worthy this week. Can anyone please tell me if they will pull me up on this ? or do I need install the old stock air box back ?

Thanks

Just put the stock air box back for the RWC then re install cai after.. no point taking the risk wasting time + money with further inspections IMO.. its not a hard job so just do it

Agreed.

Inspectors I know tend to frown upon exposed pod filters for some reason.

Yep, well they are illegal after all.. Some wont give a hoopla.. some will.. so dont waste your time and dough.. pull it off.. plug the air box back in.. please the inspector.. shuv cai back in.. hit vtaakkkkk... the end

whats the point of putting it back in, especially if the new buyer doesn't want it?

Can u read because I dont think he ever said he didnt want the CAI mate he said should he take it off for inspection and replace the air box JUST for the duration of the inspection

why take it off if you haven't been defected for anything and everything.
If it were a CAI and your pod is expose it is not situated in your engine bay so the cops won't be able to see your pod anyhow.

Unless you have a indirect CAI which is a SRI with a CAI feed/air scoop then thats a different story which if you didn't have it exposed your most likely going to get the cops hassling you if you get your car inspected for defects.

To answer your question most likely not since it sits out of the engine bay.

Yes I realised, but for potential buyers who are looking for a clean car, something as seemingly simple (to you at least) as a pod, could put them off. Make sense?

depends what type of inspection place you take to
best to be sure
just put the stock air box back in
and then put the aftermarket intake back in or let the new owner put it back in
save you alot of hassles

do you think having a exposed aftermarket intake behind your fender a rwc item
i dont think so
easily seen when on the hoist

Thanks for the reply guys ! sounds like I better take it off and put the stock one back on just incase. I wont bother putting the resonator back in though. I dont think anyone will know the difference. I dont wana have to pull that bumper off again. The new owner has already seen the CAI and hes not fussed whether its on or off. so might just remove it and then let him decide what he wants to do with it after, if he even wants it at all.
On another note.... anyone thinks its a good idea to take it to honda for a rd worthy ? I just had the major 80K service there, so they would know better than anyone else that the car is rd worthy ? true ?

If you are selling the car, remove the CAI and sell it seperately. Most people prefer a near stock Accord to buy.

On the RWC side, basically three letters let the fun police enforce their will.....ADR - if it aint factory, it aint roadworthy. Guilty until proven innocent kinda the same principle.

yes we know ffs.

but if the car is deemed unroadworthy because of the CAI, then the money he pays goes down the drain and he doesn't get his RWC. If he doesn't get his roadworthy, nobody is going to buy his car.

sorry buddy put the stock airbox back in for 100% guarantee your getting it approved.
But if your talking about roadworthy as in a pink slip they don't care if you have a CAI or SRI or whatever.

As long as your car is sound to drive it's fine.
I had a SRI exposed pod and i asked them before they check and he said it is fine, we don't deal with it to be legal or what not. Whereas if you get pulled over by cops its different as you know already.

Just for everyones information, I took the car for a rd worthy Today and it all passed with no problems. I decided to take the risk and leave the CAI in and be upfront with the inspector about it. He said as long as I havent cut or modified anything in the engine bay and the pod is not exposed in the engine bay then theres no problems. So seeing as the pod was infact in the bumper bar, car passed rd worthy without a second question.

Thank you to everyone that responded !

Interesting how they followed through with the "no pod in engine bay" rule. i.e. I thought a CAI was illegal too and just the fact you couldn't see it in the engine bay was a cheeky loop hole.

if you havent got an engineered certificate/plate then you can't even get it roadworthy.
