after painting my ignitions leads after coupe of weeks,i was driving normally and come to stop at some lights, my car started to vibrate and shake at idle. At the same time my exhaust had changed to a deeper tone and had more of a rumble to it, similar to a WRX. and when i leave in 1st gear or 2nd the car sounds like it sputtering then after goes away when driving normally.it only happens when the engine is quite warm.i had new plugs put in and problem still occurs, i checked the leads and it looks as though theres some burnt melted marks where the leads were sat, could this be ignition problem cause the leads are frailed? please help..any other suggestions?

read this thread
dizzy test (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56224)
particularly focusing on the coil side.

the old painted leads prob put your coil onto a path to an early grave when they were shorting out.

btw try to avoid painting the new leads

what has painting the leads got to do with anything?
i know quite a few people who have painted their leads with no problems at all.

explain (through fact, not speculation) how a layer of paint on the outside of an insulated wire can effect the current flow.

seeing as though u seem so sure of yourself,

-take some ignition leads(of unknown age & composition of the external insulation structure),
-paint leads with some spray paint(of unknown amounts & types of solvents contained in paint)
-put leads in car & use them for a decent amount of time
-then pop bonnet & start car
-then i dare u to rub your penis along the entire length of each lead(operating at several thousands of volts) & post a youtube of the event, just in case we can all get a good laugh out of it.............

try and be helpful guys. yes painting ignition leads is abit odd even for me but we'll done some unusual things before.

have you checked to see that you installed the leads back in properly? if its loose the car would run on less cylinders and sound like v8/boxer engine.

what? so it wasnt caused by painting the leads? the leads had nothing to do with it? wow...who would have thought?

check that you have put them in the right order
check they are put on "clicked" onto the connections properly
check your spark plugs are clean (if not clean them up or replace them)

is it throwing a code? is the "check engine" light coming on on the dash?

lol,so shorting out leads could have no adverse effects on the rest of the ignition system.

its like your sayin if i drove 10k km on a shredded tyre & chewed up the rim in the process, that i should be able to just throw on a new tyre & everything will be ok...............

enough bickering you two. i already asked you once to cut it out.

vtec0945m, have you checked the DIY forum on the engine code diagnosis?
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67113

if you changed the leads and there is still a problem, the problem may not have been there to begin with.

i have put the leads and plugs in correctly all firmly to torque.
my engine just shakes mildy at idle, and also sputters lightly when letting go of the throttle when cruisin and by just standing from front of car the engine block shakes more too than usual - and my engine mounts are good, and the zaust rumbles too..and no 'check engine' light does not come on..is it the dizzy?fuel system?
should i injector clean it, and clean the intake manny? help....
...aarrgghh have to get rid of it otherwise something might happen down the long run..

someones gotta deal with the very poor advice being dealt out & its obviously not gonna be u.
the guy is advocating painting ignition leads, ask anybody out in the field,NRMA guys are good example, how many times they seen people getting belted off ignition leads & heres someone in this thread advocating that playing with the integrity of ignition lead insulation is good for your car,let alone someones good health.
