Hi Guys,
Been slowly wearing my new CU2 in and last week my clock clocked over 1,000kms and thought i'd give it a bit more of a "run-in" by pumping the VTEC on the k24. After 10 mins or so i noticed a slight sound coming from the driver side (while inside the car). Sorta sounds like a very very VERY slight rattle. Started to get paranoid thinking that its the pinging issue that everyone is talking about. So i wound down my windows and pumped VTEC again and i tried to listen out for the sound from the outside. Nothing. Wound the windows back up and there it was again. Stopped over to the kerb, jumped out and popped the hood. Nothing.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Just wondering whether i'm being paranoid and just hearing things or if its just normal? Never really noticed the sound before - having said that though i've had my music on at level 10 or so so I couldn't really hear much. hehehe.
Hope somone can put my mind at ease :S
Thanks all,
djs2k

I don't have an answer for you but if the sound is still there, and obvious, I'd be straight back to the dealer.

You sure its not coming from the passenger side? like a slight hissing noise? If so its normal in the CL9 when hitting vtec.

lol. didnt you know ?
cu2 accord has new vtec system, you hand pump, and it opens the lid of your vtec bottle and pumps out the juice, creating a pressure differential so to speak , also known as sucking out the juice.
lol.
back on topic i wouldnt worry to much, when i got my cl accord, in 2007, it had passenger side rattling, it was the glass assembly,

would have said it's the window or dash rattle.
and only 1000km on the clock, i wouldn't be hitting vtec much until 10k km once the engine has worn in.

Vtecing is the best way to wear an engine in! But just make sure its FULLY warmed up. Thats all.

Yeah definitely nothing wrong with giving it some!
I had a similar problem, turned out it was items in my glove box and center console rattling. See if that's your problem too

It probably is just a rattle with your window.....
Vibrations are a function of the engine and whatever noise reducing parts they use. Resonant frequency can vary and if you have a part that has the same resonance frequency, then it will rattle at that RPM. With my current setup, I get a metal ringing sound like a bicycle bell at 6500rpm. It comes from my seat belt height adjuster on the driver's side. LOL.

LOL funny bastard. If you're suggesting that the sound that I'm hearng is the sound of my cams going into VTEC mode I'm quite certain it's not. LOL. Would be really embaressing if it was haha. I think the sound mght be my cd folder that I have on the drivers side door compartment. Thanks all for your thoughts :D

I know the CL was infamous for a hissing sound during vtec, I always thought it was just resonance in the engine bay, and I kinda liked it :p
Maybe take it to the dealer, get a technician to drive it around and he'll know pretty quick if it's normal or not.

How's about you fit a pod filter to the car- Induction noise will cover up any hissing noises :)

ummm... gonna sound dumb, but my sunglasses in the top compartment make a hell of a rattle when giving the car some - and when the stereo is up... just check that as a possible issue as well... scared me the first time i heard it, but then laughed when i found out what it was.

well I took my car out today and gave it a bit here and there and no sounds immediately afterwards. Was quite pleased.
Then I went out again for a ride (probably 20 mins ago) and drove normally and the sound was there. I'm thinking to myself could it be that the temperatures really cold and its affecting something in my engine bay or even the engine itself ? And I always warm up my engine before driving off (about 1 min or till the tacho reads almost 1k). Cause now when i look back on it the sound only appears at night when its dead-set cold (and ATM where I am its like bloody 5 degrees outside :S).
Can anyone help me with this ?
