View Full Version : Am I being haunted by previous owner's Driving History?

G'day people.

I'm wondering if the cops are pulling me over so often due to the previous owner's driving history?

When I do get pulled over, it's never been because of crazy driving, speeding or the likes of breaking the law.

It's always a random check.

You won't hear me from miles away nor do I have custom air brushing to draw attention to myself. Ride's almost stock.

Is it possible that the previous owner must have had a little bit of a history and by me keeping the number plate, I'm being haunted by his past cos of the records they have to the plate?

Any insight would be fantastic.

Cheers.

everytime i buy a new car, i always change my number plates the same day i register it under my name.

and it could keep the person that sold the car to you, not to stalk you and steal you're car in future, with a 2nd set of keys or whatever.

Are you on P plates K2? I remember when i first got my P's on a yellow S, i got pulled over heaps. The record i had (not being proud of it more annoyed if anything) was 12 times in 3 hours -.- But the previous owner was an older guy didnt look like one who would hoon or anything like that just wanted a weekend cruiser. Which probably explains the 50,000km mark lol.

Its either the plates or your location. Do you live or drive in an area with a high crime/hoon rate?

maybe the previous owner runs drugs? apparently my mate's cousin bought an s15 off a guy who "ran drugs" and apparently he gets pulled over all the time and they check the car.. APPARENTLY it's not because he is lebanese and APPARENTLY it's not because the car is bright fcuking yellow and a is rolling defect.

All i know is I've seen the car and it looks pretty schmick. If I was a copper, I'd probably pull him every chance I got..

Definitely not on my Ps and I live in an effluent (not trying to sound like a w*nker) suburb.

Thing is I never get pulled over close to home but a few times I've been pulled over on the highway.

Highway pull overs, got to be something. I've been holding out on a few simple mods even. Could get picked out for anything really.

So far it's been looking rather promising with me driving in the left most lane.

Do you get the whole car searched from back to front? Are they looking for drugs? or just pulling you over to give you a hard time cause you drive a nice car?

I must admit i dont get as many hassles as i used to. I have a few flags agsint my name, but lately just had a few random checks and what not. Loving the peaceful-ness of it all though lol.

I guess to wrap up, the answer is either to change plates or drive in the left most lane.

So records for red flags and defects or speed offences are in actual fact tagged to the number plate and NOT the name of the person?

Wouldn't drink driving offenders and drivers who've had their cars defected just keep changing their number plates to avoid getting hassled then?

(And now I digress, but how do I get PQ points again? Care to help a brother out?)

haha the irony.

the police could be pulling you over for any reason; maybe its the car that attracts attention rather than the previous owners driving history.
maybe you could ask the officer that pulls you over next time if there is any history with the car and its previous owner. i'd be careful to ask only a helpful officer incase of backlash. it could save you the trouble or getting new number plates...
