S2000 guard rolling..... to fit my new wheels, I was told by a few in the know in the US that I need to roll my guards. Ok fine.

So today, I rock up, and the guy looks at the guards front and rear, and tells me they don't wanna roll the guards on the S2000 because they don't think I'll get much out of it..... :( Sad panda.

They want me to bring the wheels in, rather than waste my time and money first up.

So who's had their guards rolled, and did you get the desired amount of extra width required? Or did you just flare them etc?

I got my guards rolled slightly and it gave me another 1cm of room lol. Can go further or even flare a little bit without ruining paint or guard (rolled and flared my old s15, which turned out fine). Only do it if you HAVE to otherwise its abit of a waste lol

I definately have to. An 18x8 35 up front running a 225/40 profile won't fit without a roll.

Do you have any pictures of your fender work?

Yeah, I'll take some after work! I didn't roll the s2k as crazy as i did the silvia but it wasnt needed for the 7.5" rims i have now :P it was for future wheel preferences lol.

I also got my local guy to use a rubber mallet to get the edges abit smoothen out because there isnt too much guard to work with! half of it is the plastic bumper and if your tyre goes into that you might have to cut some bumper off.. oh! and there is a huge bolt/screw thing that holds the bumper that you might find to be troublesome down the track if your tyres are still a bother!

The rear you will just need to roll it up and then cut the rear bumper and relocate the bumper tab u can do that urself.

The front you need to lip/flare it out abit, which looks abit yuck but bring the wheel in for the fronts and they can make it flush the rears you don't need to worry about.
All they need to do is take off the guard protector and roll that up n thats it no lipping/flareing.

I wanna keep some sort of a lip there. I'm not a fan of the fully flared no lip look.

mine front and rear are both rolled by the previous owner. with thosewheel figures i'd say youd definately need to foll it if you are lowered.

personally not a fan of flared stock guards. makes the car look cheap imo.

rolling the guards simply squashes the inside lip of the guards, it doesnt actually flare them out. the frotn splash guard will also no longer be connected to the front guards.

i believe driftgarage does guard rolling for 25 a pop.

25 a corner is cheap! :)

Agree with you jaeyon flareing em out is sooo yuck man
Rolling ftw!

or just get yoru stock front guards extended cut and weild job i think it would cost a fair bit but haha

Easier option is Cwest / Seibon 10mm wider fenders fro mthe States LOL.

I don't want to respray / more $$$ etc etc.

I hate the no lip look. It looks incomplete.

i dont get what you mean by no lip?

rolling the guards will only roll the inside lip of the guards, which arnt really visible when looking at them anyway. are you confusing rolling with flaring?

heres what my car looks like with front and rear guards rolled

In regards to resprays etc, you should not have to get anything repainted if the job is done properly (i.e. using a heatgun and taking it slowly).

rolling the guards doesnt phsyically alter the shape of the guards from the exterior, rather there is like a curved lip on the inside edge of the wheel guards, and it is that curved lip which is squashed flat.

My brother had his front ones rolled. Didn't get much more clearance out of it. Watch out when rolling the guard as the paint may crack. Using heat gun will help but is of no guarantee too.

As a side note, I'm running 8.5 +42 rims +225/45 tires in the front and they fit without rubbing and no guard rolling (with 2 deg camber & not ridiculous lowering). By my calcs, your 8.0 +35 rims sits ~1mm wider than mine. You might get away with it without rolling the guards.

lol well we both have s2ks!

my point with putting that pic up was that you cant see a difference between rolled and unrolled guards lol. as you pointed out the wheel area looks the same. only the inside edge of the guards are rolled, so ludecrs theres no need to worry about losing the "lip" (im assuming you mean the edge along the wheel guard, where the guard folds down

I'd say get them rolled, and expect to paint them too. I'm yet to see even then best guard rollers not crack the paint. My current S2k has rolled guards and there crap, uneven and inconsistent. My red S2k had guards rolled and pumped 10mm front and rear guards. Done by a Nathans smash is Sydney. Those guards you couldn't tell were done, till you seen a standard one parked beside. So i'm with John on this one, if there done professionally you can't tell.

Brad i think i know what you trying to say about when guys seriously push the guards out, eg J's Racing. They look shit and the guards lose there form and band.

Generally hektik 20" rims have shallow offset, as it's impossible to run aggressive offset on 20's without looking like a 4WD.

rofl thats basically everything

yup as JAP52K said, the bigger wheels usually do have high offsets/less aggressive offset. im only running +35 and +38 offsets on a 8.5 and 9.5" 18" wheel respectively and already my wheels stick outside the guards. rolling will not get them to fit under, only wider/flared ones.

however it doesnt fuss me too much, i plan on dropping the car 1.5" and leaving it as is. looks quite tough i think

u can get it pumped out a bit, i got mine pumped and rolled and it gave allot more space to have the wheel there... just take it to somewhere they no what their doing and it will come out fine.. if you where in sydney you could of just dropped past qsr.

does it mean mine was rolled? I had 19's on it and just got them to make them fit? lol.. but i do know the wheels were how do you say.. camberd out maybe? they werent pointing directly down i guess is the best way to explain it lol. they were slanted kinda..

lol looks nice when its stationery sure. but have a look at those tyres im pretty sure they are scrubbing on the writing on the tyre side wall.

you'd want very very stiff suspension to run fitment liek that!

I'm not a fan of TOO stretched i'd like only 1 size smaller that for me is too stretch I hate it when the rim of the wheels stick outside the tyres, but each to their own :)
I like aggressiveness with performance still haha.
However can't argue that it looks TOUGH!!!!!!

Suprised to see you comment like that Ludecrs haha!

i got my front and rears rolled and it doesnt scrub at all anymore.

im running 17x7.5 +25 offset at the fronts with 205 tyres. i previously had 225's and they scrubbed abit until i stiffened up the front dampers.

rears im 17x8.5 +30 offset with 215 tyres and previously had 235's which didnt help move the car at all with the height i was driving at.

on a side note saw your car the other day parked. Nice old school looking rims on them

I got my rears rolled when i had my S and managed to get a few more mm's out of it LOL
