This is something i think would be wise, considering that the CG/CK Accord transmissions aren't the best.

And i really don't want to fork out money everytime the transmission dies or there is a problem, i wouldn't even want someone to buy this car and have transmission problems!

So ! I've been looking around for a M.T but havn't been succesful, i'm also told it could cost anywhere between 2-3 K for it plus any other extra's, excluding labor.

The other option i have been considering is buying a full car which i could possibly get for around 4-5K use the M.T + parts off that and sell off parts i don't need to all the new CG / CK owners.

Thoughts and comments are welcome, i would liek to know people's thought on this move.

If i sell it, i wont get anything half decent for the price it sells, so i'm looking to make it a strong and long lasting car.

hey there, this will be interesting.
I currently drive the CK accord v6 model.
my transmission went out last week.
Got a fully reconditioned transmission put in for $2200 including labor.
I looked at also making it a manual, i also even looked at putting in the 7th generations automatic transmission (the 5 speed one). However, these options are pricey as it means close to a full conversion, ecu, harness, cluster the works. Go onto this website -> www.v6performance.net
The people on this website are generally from the U.S, and lucky for them they have acura's. Acura's have cars that have a similar v6 engine with a 6 speed M.T. So they could get the transmission from these acura models.

Being down under in AUS, our option are fairly limited. There's also not much love for our accords here. However, i do love our V6's, the auto-tragic is just terrible.

on your quote
"The other option i have been considering is buying a full car which i could possibly get for around 4-5K use the M.T + parts off that and sell off parts i don't need to all the new CG / CK owners."
What are you planning to buy? what else will you have to change along with the manual transmission? and would it really be practical?
i mean you're buying the car for the M.T, but are the other parts relevant for any other cg/ck models? you might be blowing a lot of money. Unless, you're rich of course.

The v6 engine in our accords would do great with a 6 speed manual. I'm subscribed to your thread, as i got my transmission changed but i'm still paranoid about it.

how many times have you changed your transmission?

Hey Anthony.

I spent most of my week talking to a few people who work with cars about my idea, and it does seem to be more work and money then i thought.

I was intending to buy a 2000 CK accord from Brisbane, and use the 5 Speed and all other parts needed for the conversion. . . not as easy as i thought.

Ive swapped mine over once already and that was over 3 years ago. it was fine until recently.

My next option is to do a full reco and possibly get myself an Trans Oil cooler, a few Honda Specialists recommended this.

One of the Honda Wrecker Owners has the same car in v6, and mentioned that he was organising a Trans Oil Cooler. Might be something worth looking into.

I've been around v6performance for a while now, a few good tips in there.

oh and i'm not rich, haha. Where are you located bud?

yeah i think a trans oil cooler would be a good idea.
Something i'll get done too.
i'm down in melbourne, in the springvale area.
Yourself?

About the CK accord you'll be buying, you'll basically have to make it a manual car.
I wish you the best of this, it's such a shame that the weakness for our car is the automatic transmission.
So your final option is to?
how much is it going to cost to get your autotragic reconditioned?

yeah i'm going to ask around for Reco prices and do a bit more research on the Oil cooler, i need to find out what the benefits really are and if its worth even installing.

i don't want it to be a worthless piece of rice in my car.

I live in Mulgrave but I'm in Perth for work at the moment, i'll be back in melb soon, but im moving to Cheltanham.

I don't think i'll bother with the purchase of the M/T or other accord, after speaking to the specialists, im a bit turned off by the idea. haha
