Might mount it at the back for a run next time, and inside too. I have the suction cup for outside - seems really strong (was 90 bucks!) but do I have the balls to mount the cam out there too on the rear quarter?

my guess is the microphone is remote?

I'd like o say I know, but honestly, it's just a damn good unit designed specificly for this stuff. It looks all military spec just really good quality. I went in to spend 300 bucks, ended up at $1100.00 but after I saw a porsche drivers demo movie on his laptop I had to have it. He was a customer, not even a salesman and said he had the cheap camera 2 weeks and gave it to his kid because it just didn't work well enough.

I wouldn't use anything else now.

Which brand is the camera? Might be interested because the handycam that I use in the car just records a muffled engine note.

Just a question re the vid, were you downshifting or neutralling when slowing down around a bend??

Bit over 200km/h. I do brake/lift early though.......cost to much to crash and I'm not rich! :(

I down shift before a corner, and on the odd corner I had to lift off (traffic/wrong entry line) otherwise I just feed on the throttle gently and exit. At WOT it is loud but especially off VTEC it does get a bit quieter, hence the "coasting" look.

That should roughly give you a lap time around 1:32's

beeza
24-06-2009, 08:28 PM
Damn. You worked that out from a top speed? How?

DC5TYPER
24-06-2009, 08:39 PM
Thats kinda the ball park figure. I did similar top speed in the DC5R and got 1:32.

On 200 got me around 1:34ish

190 got close to 1:40

It really made me decide I am going to change the final drive. I felt it was too tall in some of the corners in second it went off the boil and in first it would be near on the limiter. Also on the back straight pulling fifth right near the end I would rather be on the limiter in fifth at the end of the straight.

All fun and games I guess!

Would it not depend on how your engine gearbox is set up,i.e. the other parts in there?

Sounded in some of the corners it was out of vtec. 4.77FD would be a nice upgrade.

ur s2 sounds so F**** TUFF. wat an animal omg =D
so brutal

please..tell me more about ur home made intake. im intrigued

JAP-S2K
25-06-2009, 05:57 PM
Why is that?

It bunches the gears closer as such, all gears become shorter and when you shift into the next gear your in a better power band. This is without a doubt one of the best mods to do to a n/a S2000, if you plan to track your car. However with that said it can very annoying (4.777 at 100+ kms) if you do alot of highway use especially with a loud exhaust.

beeza
25-06-2009, 06:02 PM
Thanks mate,I know what it does but is it a case of shorter is better,I mean would the selection of the FD depend on your engine/gearbox specs?

JAP-S2K
25-06-2009, 06:09 PM
What do you mean then? As in naturally aspirated or forced. For sure it would, i can't see the point in running 4.777 if you have a force fed S2K. But it helps in a stock/modified n/a.

beeza
25-06-2009, 06:19 PM
I see,so for a S2K engine, the difference would be boost and n/a but would that go for say a fully built n/a engine?

JAP-S2K
25-06-2009, 06:25 PM
Yeah as they still have little torque and peak power is at the end of the rev range.

beeza
25-06-2009, 06:28 PM
That makes perfect sense!

Thanks mate!!

tried this on the w.e...did a really rushed job though...i just started snapping of that plastic wall with some pliers...pulled the funnel on the inside of the airbox lid...put it back on

went for a drive...and car sounds good now...you get the induction sound and keep the same power

this w.e im going to line it with some thermotec and fix it up a bit

best mod of done so far!!

I find with the lid on you dont have the grunt it has with the lid off. Sure its getting heat soaked and your losing power but i think i'd rather the sound.. i couldnt imagine losing alot of power having the lid off? unless its like a 40 degree day lol

tamay_s2k
29-06-2009, 10:35 PM
yea i agree with f20c
i took the lid off and snapped off the inside wall of the intake box and now the car grunts and i cant really feel a lose of performance. taking off the inside wall actually helps a lot in terms of air going to the pod =]. i recommend it..just take the pod off b4 u start cracking the plastic bcuz the particles can get stuck to the pod and damage it. and wen ur done snapping off the inner wall, make sure u use a vacuum do clean all the xcess plastic bits inside the box.

aye tamay i wanna see yours show me it tonight or something.. i do warn you though the filter gets real dirty real quick.. i need a new one which probably explains why im losing torque.. dirty + heat soaked + lighter pressure plate/clutch :(

yea gimme a buzz later 2nite and we'll meet up at maccas. lol damn!..i dont want my car losing heaps of power from heatsoak n shit..dats y im saving up 4 a intake =D

i dont think its that bad.. why do you need the power anyway huh hoon? lol
