Hey guys i am going to test the health of my motor due to it being turbod and make sure its going sweet before do some more work and get it tuned, what sort of PSI readings should i be looking for in a D16Y4 or what are they factory?

Thanks guys:D

lol,
just went for a cuppa, sorry lukey

ryan
about 150psi+ across all 4,no less than say 10% difference in any cylinder

Plus if you have one higher that can be a problem but not if ones lower than the other 3

150, 150, 145, 150...

That's fine then but quite low

My boosted D with new rings was 190 on all four

have never cracked the engine open. If it was too low the mechanic would have informed me. of course it would be higher with new rings...

did u disable the ecu from spraying fuel while u were cranking luke?

Hmm

Ben did.. Put out the main ECU fuse

not right or to high?

Was about 2 years ago I think

hot or cold motor luke?

WOT?

all spark plugs removed?

gauge calibrated well?

nah ...im just shit stirring luke,u know me....

if u crank long enough, the extra fuel can help seal the rings a little,so i believe
the main thing is a decent reading above minimum & good consistency across all 4.

Hot motor

Just one plug at a time

gauge calibrated who the **** knows lol

thats what i mean,
everybody has there own different methods of how they think it should be done, its hard to compare readings, especially when u dont know how correct your gauge is or how well u have it screwed in way down there.
who knows how honda want u to test against their values?
if u get a dud reading & your motor is running like shit, then investigate further,if not dont worry about the actual figure

IC

Just like dyno read-outs :p

exactly

in both cases, just use the same measuring device, make the test conditions repeatable & dont worry too much about the actual figure(unless its totally absurd),but whether it is going up/down or the same value when testing.

ha ha cool thanks guys :P i am just wondering caz i thought i would do it before i put the new computer in it and get it tuned see how she is inside there, hopefully its a bove 150psi then :P

better to do it warm motor or cold, caz i cant warm my motor up caz i kinda have no headers atm lol

cold or hot,it wont make a big enough difference on a stock motor to worry, just make sure u test all the cylinders under the same conditions,if u get bad results, then investigate further with a leakdown

cool thanks i'll let you know what numbers i get going to do it this weekend if i get a chance :)

make sure the throttle is fully open as well, if it isnt, it makes greater resistance for the air to enter the engine reading in a slightly negative reading.

the compression test is a guide i would only use to compare each piston to the other to find potential problems. nothing else imo.
