hey guys
i saw one with a red top cover and another one with a dark grey/light grey cover?! whats the difference?
i tried searching but nothing relevant came up.
Well if its stock.
The dark grey/black one is usually the SIR / VTI-R engines (b18c,b18c2,b16a/2,h22a etc)
The red ones are usually the Type R engines ( b18c1,b18c5,b18c7,b16b, h23a etc)
Sometimes ppl spray teh rocker cover red to look nicer.

All b16a's are grey.
all the R models ie B16B B18c5,7
have red rocker covers

Ummm... my B16A cover is black, not grey. That's a gen 1 EF9 B16A cover - likewise the Gen 1 DA6 cover I have in the back room.

i'm sure its red and it ain't painted i think
but i'll double check
its definitely a typeR? if so would the conversion be as hard as b16a?
Check teh engine code and see what it says.
You can spray teh rocker cover with poweder coated paint to make it look like the real thing.
best get an expect or someone who sees these engines often to check ti with u.

Look on the block , just below the head-gasket line ....look for the engine code " B16....." and tell us the number before purchasing.
That will tell u what kind of BLOCK it is.....there is no way of knowing ( correct me !!!) what exact kind of head you have without opening it up....coudl be b16a...b16b....b18c etc...

Hey anyone can put a type r cover on. I have one in my car. like wat the others said check the number on the engine block. Even then people can still do dodgy stuff wif engine numbers. In any case the only engines wif red covers in aus delivered cars are integra type r's and s2000...unless its an import.
