Which intake should I go for should i get a short ram intake or cold air intake for my F22B Vtec??
need some opinion..
which one is better??
Note: Looking for better performance in a stock engine, not for racing just for cruzing, doesnt trash the car revs around 2-4..which give more HP and torque?
Dont want to spend too much on it either just want an upgrade from stock air filters:D
which one is better overall? I ve read a lot a lot of peps say its cold intake, alot saying short ram is better
need some help..thanks

In that case ide assume that a cold air intake would give you consistently better performance aswell as a great sound where as the short ram would be collecting alot of hot air circulating the engine bay & is at more risk of being defectable as it is exposed, the only positive with a short ram is the air travelling to the engine goes along a much shorter path thus might be slightly more responsive, but i still doubt that you would be able to tell.
Ide go with the cold air, its comming up to winter now also so the car will run hectic!

cold air is useful at higher rpms
short air ram is useful at lower rpms

Cold air intake has the ability to draw in colder air which is denser resulting in more power.
To be honest, the gains on a street car are useless. You're not going to notice much difference between the two on the road. Even if you do, it's nothing to wow about.

Not for F22B, but i didn't want to start my own thread.
I was just thinking about CAI theory, specifically with the way that the dc2r mugen intake works.
So i understand that the biggest hinderance to the CAI working properly is if the piping is restrictive relative to the volume of air required. But then with the mugen intake system, because there is "positive" pressure (whilst driving at speed), does the size/length/shape of the piping have any restriction?
i'm designing a CAI system for my da3, based on the same principle as the mugen intake system.

Just get a K&N panel filter and if your keen, remove your stock resonator. Cost you less than SRM or CAI but does the job equally good.

I've already got a panel filter and the resonator gear has all been removed, but now its just sucking up engine bay heat.
nevermind. i'll take some pictures of my idea and make a new thread :)

Well F22B1 is VTEC SOHC which comes on vti vti-s of 94-97 CD models,
the F22A is the 2.2 4 cyl SOHC non vtec, which comes on CB accords and EXI model's of CD accords
and F22B is a DOHC non vtec engine??
correct me if i am wrong guys lol..

F22B1 SOHC VTEC Ausie spec
F22B SOHC comes with vtec too only in Japan,
F22B DOHC no Vtec only in US
i got JDM F22B to replace my old engine ;) well this was few years ago on the accord
no B1 or wat so ever on the engine stamp..
CHINA intake pipe mated with good filter.. ;) half the price as good as the branded! trust me on this 1 =p

From other threads, I have been contemplating my navel, and of course everything that can be done to the CD5 that is reasonable. Sure, turbo, sure H22 swap, etc. But seems like a lot of work into a car that is likely going to be replaced in the next few years.
I love my F22B3, but would love to uprate it a little. I'm convinced it needs a bit more air in its lungs over 5300rpm and would love to be able to take it regularly to 7000rpm. However, redline I believe is at 6600rpm and its gets there sweetly at the moment. I would love to bolster this with a bit more strength. All major services up to 130,000 are done.
Anyone have an experience in what are the weakest parts in the F22B3, or what are some of the parts most likely to let go?

If its anything like the BB6 then the tacho is inaccurate enough to look like you go a good 500+ rpms past the redline and still actually be at it :P So you can tell people you have upgraded it lol.

is the bb6 tacho direct fit replacement to stock cd5 cluster? without modifications?
