not many places are into the labor intensive process of rust removal ( restoration)

they mainly just like to replace things.

Deep rust. Just go to a panel beater- cut and weld is the best option.

my mate has this commodore full of rust
he just cut it out and put heaps of bog into it
did the trick real nice
then he sprayed it smokey grey primer
looks so tough now

Lol in a few months or so he will find the bog will crack and flake..causing damage to the paint.

Plus bogging doesn't prevent rust from coming back

Best thing but most expensive is to do it the right way. Cut and weld replacement metal then rust proof (POR15) etc.. thats the only real way

OzHonda likes to use bog, i think it makes your car faster, weight saving FTW

Lloyd likes to let the holes go through his pillars, It makes the car faster, weight saving FTW

Fixed!!!

BTW, depending on the severity of the rust, cutting and rewelding new would be best.

In a small spot just get the sand paper/discs/etc and get the rust killer and bog, not as effective but it does work.

If it's bad rust then find a new shell.

yeah thats the smart way buy a another shell that is going to cost you thousands, and labour is going to cost you a arm and leg, might as well buy a new car

Or spend potentially thousands fixing a rusty body only to have the rust keep on coming back.

O'rly?

It gets in the A-pillars and then YOU'RE ****ED!

Not that simple for a AH Civic.

sentimental value.

Strong point.

If the person doing the rust removal/check is smart they will remove ALL the paint (bare shell) respray, cut and remove whatever rust is visable AND use the fish oil....

argh.. this thread has me worried..

Scraped my rear left quarter panel the other day.. First ding i've had in the 6 months with the car. its an EK. so the panel just above the wheel (the area where one might roll to fit bigger wheels) is dented in and scratched to bare metal. I popped some rust guard and touch up paint over the top until i get it fixed. Just before i get quotes..

Anyone estimate the cost? and what is involved to repair? If anymore info is needed just ask

EDIT.. lol.. yeah fair enough.. pretty silly question.
