View Full Version : ISSUE with B18C swap

HI Guys,

just fisnished an engine swap EK4 - B16A to JDM 98 B18CR. Everything pretty much plug and play, i swapped the looms also. Engine starts, no engine light..but it idles a bit low 600 - 800 rpm and when i rev it, engine cuts at around 2000rpm and car stalls ... i have checked fuel line and they are working fine. Checked the Sparkplugs and they are black, so it sounds like its running rich. Can anybody help me here? im stuck ..

and also i didnt put the o2 sensor as it hits the mid shaft, so i just plugged it in to the loom and cover the hole on the header. could it be the reason?

er yeah i'd say not having the o2 sensor in there isn't doing it any favours
a/f is all messed up giving you the grief you're experiencing

O2 will not cause the engine to cut out at 2k and stall without registering a fault code.


do you have any VAFC RSM installed ?

has then engine ligth come on ?

are you sure you got the TPS and MAP connector on the right way around ?

thanks for the response... no RSM / VAFC installed, timing untouched ... engine light never came on.

are TPS and MAP connector have the same plugs?? if they do i might get it wrong ...

just wanna say thanks to everyone especially to ECU-MAN. You were right i had TPS - MAP sensor mixed up. i fixed the problem.

now with the O2 sensor, car runs fine, Vtec came on, idle is ok, no engine light ... do i still need to put it back to the exhaust? and oh yeah my dissy went dead when i pulled the car and had to replace with the B16's one, but this has nothing to do with that ...

good stuff,

you do have to put the O2 in as you will get a fault code after a 5min of driving.

withthe B18C down pipe the O2 should clear the mid shaft. anyway go to an exhaust place and have them move it back a bit if you have to.

i drove the car about an hour yesterday, and no engine light, and car drives fine..
are you saying sooner or later engine light will on?

You u still have the b16 engine? How many ks its done and condition. $$$???

try to get a hold of another ecu, plug it in and see how you go

You can even use the p28 if you cant find another type R ecu
