I'm looking to get some cams for my k24. I've done a fair bit of research but most of the information I have found so far is inconclusive. It seems for every one person that says a cam is good, there is another person saying it's rubbish.

I need some help sorting through all of the information and misinformation floating around the web.

I am considering the following cams:

Blueprint Stage 2
Brian Crower Stage 2
Skunk2 Stage 2
Buddyclub Spec III
Toda Spec C
JUN Stage 2

Feel free to suggest anything that I forgot to include on the list.

Looking for opinions and real world results (if available).

Cheers guys,
Chris

Toda Spec C's or Skunk2 Stage3 cams. The skunks will give a more torquey compared to the toda's top end power. Either one im sure you wont be disapointed.

Thanks for the info.

The car has a 64mm TB/Intake/Header/ 2.5" exhaust

Do you need high compression pistons for stage 3 cams on the k24?

Well im not qualified to give you an accurate answer. Maybe try contacting DR HONDA if you wanna go into specifics, I run the skunk 2 stage 3 cams and im very happy with them. The torque is unbelievable. If i were you i would consider running a 3inch exhaust instead of the 2.5". The K24's need to breath once you start adding power to them.

Hope that helps.

Yes you do need high comp piston
Be carefull with choosing your pistons combo
Watch out for valve to piston clearance

I know YOSOLO from USA ran those skunk2 stage 3 on a stock bottom end k24a TSX motor pushing to 9000 rpm. They dont care much about how long the motor can last.

dont we just lvoe the yanks haha... I would get mild cam. If its more of a street car something like a entry level cam will do fine.

thanks for the advice guys.

I think a stage 2 cam will be fine. I just want to make sure the cams are adequate for the 2.4L engine since most seem to be designed for the 2.0L k20.

I also want a cam that has been well made and will have OEM-like reliability.

Check the cam specs from the manufacturers & see that the low cam is larger than the original low cam of your K24.
If not, don't use it simple...
If the manufacturer doen't give out specs... Again, don't use them...
If they do give out specs & these specs don't add up. Then don't use them.
(check opening & closing values + 180 vs advertised & 0.050 or 1.0mm. Also check timing figures + 180 / 2 - BTDC figure for LCA etc - beleive it or not, some manufacturers are so retarded they can't count)
If the manufacturer can't get this right, stay away... ;)

Follow these simple rules & you'll be fine...

The rest is up to your installer & tuner.
