It is has been a few weeks since my last post where I asked about recommendations to better my fuel economy on my Honda Civic EK1. Since then, i have changed my oil (10W-30 penrite), oil filter (ryco), auto transmission oil (OEM), air filter (ryco), new NGK spark plugs and new tyres. Yet, i have not seen a difference in my fuel economy, not even 1km. I am still getting roughly 380-390km/tank.

I visited a local Honda dealer today to get some coolant and explained my situation. They were amazed. The only thing they could suggest was to book it in for a tune up with a focus on a fuel injector clean. However, they couldn't guarantee that it would solve my problem.

I just want to know if anyone else has had similar issues and what else i can do?

Thanks.

Compression test on the engine.

Replace the fuel filter. Adjust valve clearance. Check that your tyre pressure is at least 32 psi.

dayum how much throttle you two have on lol

tyres 38psi all round (195/50R15)
new coolant
oil topped up to the right mark
etc
etc

my ej8 has never had its valve clearances adjusted other than when it was first bought new from previous owner, I change everything as per the manual and I get a combined mileage of 6.67L per 100 :) out of the 40L

but thats driving to work and whatnot on the weekends, I dont red every single gear every time, do give it some going onto the hwy from home and leaving work, thats about it

use this site to calc it up :)

i get about 11.4L/km. that is absoultely sh*t house for a civic. I think its a transmission problem. Its an auto. The gear ratio seems stuffed. Its not a smooth drive at all. It lacks power and drive.

Theres ur problem dude..

if ur trans is ****ed.. will make the engine go harder to creep up the speed and also just creates a force that doesnt let ur motor cruise easily

Go new gearbox.. or get a manual

sounds exactly like one of our other cars. its a trans problem. i'm guessing auto is easier and cheaper to swap out for a new one rather then try to service it. or just go manual. manual ftw
