Vafc does more than just adjust vtec.
It can adjust your fuel mixtures, by altering input signals to the ecu.
Adjusting JUST vtec does nothing.
Your ECU has a preset fuel map. If you put your vtec higher in the range youll still run the same fuel map. You wont make more power, possibly even lose power.
If you get a vafc, might as well get it tuned.
Im not sure of gains from a sohc vtec-e motor. But youll get around 2-3kw atw from it.
I got +5kw on my dc2.

Yer I no what it does and also a vtec timer . Yer I'll be getting a proper tune and it's not a vtec - e motor LOL that's the other shitty one d16y8 is like the best one in d motors but nothing compaired to a dohc lol you recon it will be worth it?

worth it? nope
get more results buying better tyres than getting a vafc+tune(using the term 'tune' loosely here since the vafc is so limited)
at least you'll be able to feel the difference

you'd hardly notice any changes
money would be better spent on handling upgrades :)

It would at least make it drive smoother with little gains as stated above but probably not worth the money....but you can always sell the unit later anyways...

no point go get better speakers or head deck
lol when I bought my eg5, it already had a V-AFC on it. I have no idea if it makes more power on my D16Y1, all i know is that sometimes when im idling, i hear this "pop pop pop"
my friend said its giving me a rich fuel mix or something. atm its set on 5100rpm for vtec instead of 5400rpm. Other than that, thats all i know, dont wanna risk screwing any settings up.
oh lol, it also gives you this 'bling' factor hahaha.

you shouldn't be adjusting the vtec, honda made it so you get the right amount of power and fuel economy, changing it will alter your timing, not good for your engine life. When i bought my ef8 crx, it had a vafc2 in it, vtec was set at 3500rpm, i drove it around for 2 weeks like that, i didn't know it was set at 3500rpm because i couldn't really hear a crossover, then i played around with it a bit and returned it to stock. 5750rpm. At the time i was only getting about 350-400kms for a full tank of fuel, better to spend your money on handling mods, much more rewarding.

i had a vafc dyno tuned on my ej9 civic (d14 ek) with edelbrock intake manifold, dc sports 4-1 header 55mmexhaust and many others. After dyno tuned it pulled 6 whp which is great almost throughout the powerband. The a/f ratio needed tuning.

D16y8 is NOT vtec-e
its probably the best D-series vtec engine available and with a small amount of tuning it easily trumps a B16a2

yep this will work . few of my mates hae VAFC in their ejs . Then all ran stock ecu at first and yep like everyone else has been saying they either didn't make a power difference or lost power. They only wanted it to control the vtec... If you got the money i'd say upgrade your ecu , something easy would be hondata (seeing as it's plug and play) , hondata s200 is what i'm aiming for right now because you can hook a laptop up to it and run the program (mainly want it for look, but tuning wise too) . One of my mates ej's has hondata s300 and VAFC and it goes really well. At the end of the day all comes up to how much your willing to spend. For power gains they always require money.. but yes you can run VAFC in your ej8. hope this helps. goodluck
